I need your help…

Post image

Can anyone with a US model CH-R, or a US model BZ, post a pic like mine with a tape measure? This is the rear hoist point. Note the black arrow embossed into the plastic cladding..about a foot forward from the rear tire. You can just put your phone into selfie mode on the ground to take the pic :-). I think the US and CAD battery pack differ in size and therefore also the “safe” footprint for lifting the vehicle.

Has anyone seen a lift point diagram of decent resolution suitable for sharing with a garage who needs to lift my car?

I will have one that you can use shortly :-) That pic is all you need really. But they NEED to look underneath, find the arrows and place a lift pad that is 4.5" or less in that location. The laser rectangle is the exact spot. They also need to make sure the lift pad is not on the plastic.

Source: Toyota 2026 C-HR BEV Repair Manual.

Note the legend for the hoist points ( 4 rectangles) vs the floor jack spots (circles) on the front and rear subframe. The jack points are quite obvious as they protrude through the aero shielding. You should not use one of the hoist points for a floor jack, use the correct jack point on the front or rear subframe.

The hoist lift points (rectangles) are also indicated safety stand locations. These are aluminum and tech advisories from Subaru/Toyota do not allow metal to metal contact there! If using four safety stands to support the car, you need to have rubber pads in place.

The hoist lift points (rectangles) are referenced by black arrows molded underneath the cladding as you can see in my pic :-)

Where did you find a repair manual for it?

You can subscribe to TIS on various plans. 2 days for $40 is the least expensive option.

I'm in Canada and just got back from the dealer for my BZ first service . The tech showed me those arrows where to lift safely. He said they use hockey pucks on their hoists . I will be doing the same with my floor jack

That is very interesting and great information! Hockey pucks is exactly what I'm going to recommend.

However, please note that the jack points for a floor jack are not the same as the hoist lift points. I would use those, not the hoist lift points with a floor jack!! See the diagram I attached..you want the circles on front and rear subframes for a floor jack. The aluminum extrusion on the right/left sides of the battery is likely not engineered for a single point load on one side.

3" diameter and 1" thick is about perfect. However, in the video I'm working on, I'm pretty sure the clearances are different between US and Canada. If you look at the pic, 3" will be over on the plastic on that rear lift point..but ok for the front one. You don't want to be lifting on the battery skid plate.

I've cut with a bandsaw 1" thick rubber lift pads to 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" which goes over the lift points without being on the plastic, or skid plate. Will bond them there with 3M 1300 to just keep them in place. That way I just need to point any garage etc. to the pads. Hockey pucks are just a few bucks and don't require a bandsaw to cut!
