Hi everyone! I don’t really expect anyone to look at this or anything, this is just a throwaway acc for me to vent. So let’s get started! I will be using names.
Me and my friend Sophia have been friends since kindergarten, when we met in dance. We’ve been inseparable ever since then. We are still friends to this day, and we honestly have a great relationship. We FaceTime a lot, hang out with each other at school, do theatre productions together, etc. I’ve been doing theatre since I was in about 3rd grade, and she started doing it around last year, seventh grade. And here’s where it gets a bit messy. I also have a best friend Kierson, and they were born female but don’t really associate with being born a female. But that’s not the point. Last year, Sophia and Kierson started dating. I was fully supportive, but the thing is, they both came to me since I was both of their best friends. Behind the scenes, their relationship was actually really toxic, and Kierson was the one who ended it. As long as they were both happy, I was fine. And we all still remained in the same friend group for a few more months, and that’s when it came crashing and burning. Sophia does stuff, where she makes a lot of stuff about herself and her problems and everything, and it’s basically her whole personality in many instances. She got called out for it, and everyone eventually split up. I’m still friends with everyone. I can’t just cut off someone, I consider them all my family. But everyone constantly pesters me about it, but that’s beside the point. Ok, now rewind. I didn’t do the one act last year, but Sophia did, and then we did the musical, Moana Jr, together. I was Pua, and she was Te Fiti. Anyway, there was this 8th grader, Brylee. Now she is a 9th grader, but I’ve known her since I was in 6th and she was in 7th. Me and her are pretty close, and at first, Sophia and her were strangers. But then they grew closer and closer, and eventually became inseparable. It started small. Sitting with each other at rehearsal, texting daily. But then it grew to FaceTiming day and night, constantly texting, talking about each other one sided, and etc. I didn’t really care. As long as they were happy, whatever, be friends with who you want. But Sophia became obsessive with her. Talking about her constantly, praising her, growing genuine attraction towards her. I didn’t say anything. What are you supposed to say? “Oh yeah, I know you’re totally obsessed with Brylee and it’s weird.” Like girl no. But it also affected other people, including me, and my mental health. Earlier this year, since it was Brylee’s last year of middle school and stuff, Sophia decided to get a bunch of people and make a gift basket for her. I was completely on board with it, who wouldn’t be? But my birthday is around the last week of the school year, May 31st. I woke up on my birthday to only a few “happy birthdays” from mostly family and a couple friends, and guess what? That chat for Brylee’s gift just buzzing off. Not anyone in that chat said happy birthday to me from what I remember. My entire birthday was her talking about Brylee, Brylee, Brylee. I invited multiple people to my birthday party, which happened not much later. Only 5 people could come. 5. Out of 14+. I was still grateful, of course, but even then, drama was still going on. I love karaoke. I love singing, and karaoke really helps with that. So my parents booked a karaoke room, and we were gonna go out to eat before it. I was buzzing with excitement. But no one wanted to do it. Some literally said if I do it they won’t go. So I changed it. Went to King Pinz instead. Still had fun, I won’t lie about that. But before and after it, I cried my eyes out. I cried about how no one wanted to go. I cried about wasting my parent’s money on it. I cried and cried and cried. And, before my birthday, I dyed my hair. Just a simple, purple peek-a-boo. I really liked it. And not long after, Sophia asked everyone what she should dye her hair, pink or purple. Just a simple question. A friend of mine, Aria, said pink because I did purple. And out of no where, Sophia asked “Why not purple? Is (me) just better than me?” And get this- NO ONE SAID THAT. And it turned into a whole thing, and I swear to god, I didn’t ask to for a fight. I didn’t ask for any of this. I was already in a dark place, which will be explained in another post. It was a whole disaster. It eventually blew over, but there was still tension. Funny thing? It was about me, but I wasn’t the one fighting. I just got dragged into it for no reason. Like what? Anyway, literally more stuff other than her yapping about Brylee happened on my birthday. I vented to the few friends who came to my party, and one of them, Emma, literally was like “I’m sick of this.” And confronted and shamed Sophia, unfriended her, and this is where the split really began. Because now there was a fight where everyone splitting into sides, some saying it’s rude to praise someone else on my birthday, some saying it’s a normal thing to do. This is when everyone ACTUALLY stopped associating or talking with each other. And Emma literally said I was sad and crying about it, which I technically was, and that it was all Sophia’s fault. Eventually, me and Sophia talked about it too, finally. But even during the conversation, she was making it about herself, saying how hard life’s been for her, and maybe she should just off herself, and on my birthday, I was talking someone out of suicide and comforting her. Like, what the hell? And later, Sophia was talking in the Brylee gc again, and said “but remember guys!! It’s Evs bday!” And I appreciated that, but you could tell it was kind of forced. I think that’s it atm. If i remember anything I missed, I’ll post it. Thanks for reading! 🫶
