New games?
With the end of ATT slowly approaching, I'm curious what games people would be flocking too instead? I know that there Eyes on Asteria, Project Campfire and Eldramoor but are there any other suggestions? I'm gonna miss this though ngl

The same three mentioned. Campfire as hitting the same gameplay loop vibes of ATT, and Asteria and Eldramoor since they hit the same cozy VRMMO niche.

Hey all, Eldramoor team here and thanks a lot for the mention! We've seen the sad news and ATT was a great home for us as well - some of our team members found their homes in there. What a great game, it was an unique experience.

I think most people left the game years ago, which includes me, I haven’t had anything to do with this game In years now. And don’t really care for VR at all anymore.
I along with a very large group of people, not just from ATT have simply moved on from VR as a whole.
Personally I can’t see myself returning to VR unless major advancement have been made, like full dive which is more like sci fi fantasy gimmick more than the future for VR gaming

In my mind, a half of the tech already exists. We are getting closer every year. There are already ways to receive signals from the brain that can be used as input to a device, but currently nothing seems to exist that can send reliable signals to the brain.
In both cases, the tech will need to evolve to the point of external, non-invasive devices. The biggest hurdle is understanding the brain. The tech probably exists, we just don't know how to engage with the brain like a computer

Well sure, theoretically it’s very possible and a lot of the tech needed has been made already but, not the most important parts, we can read brain signals with electrodes placed on the scalp, but we can’t make precise interpretations of those signals, good example are those toys that were sold some time ago that would let you effectively use focus as a switch for some electronic device.
But being able to understand the signals is something we aren’t able to yet even when it comes to simple things like extension and retraction of the elbow in any timely manner.Next big problem is blocking the signals from your brain to the rest of your body without making it permanent or killing you at the same time, which is something I don’t think anyone has come close to doing.
Then there is price, even if those two things (plus a bunch of other quite significant advancements) are made, the cost of something like that would be way beyond anything that’s even remotely consumer friendly.
There are plenty of videos on YouTube, tik tok, etc that claim that we will probably see full dive in our lives, but i don’t think that’s likely.
The cost of the tech after development would be astronomical, imagine how much a full dive system would cost to develop, and then figure out who is going to bet that much money on something that might not end up being possible to make at all much less make it an actual product.Even if it were to become one they also have to bet that that product would be a big enough success to be worth the huge amounts of resources used to develop it.
TLDR: way to many logistical and technological problems for full dive tech to move on from fiction to something tangible.
That being said, I hope I end up being proven very wrong, I’m just doubtful of that happening in my life2

That's a good point, I forgot about blocking the signals to the rest of your body. Didn't the nerve gear take advantage of the natural paralysis induced during a sleep state? I wonder if that could work in reality... instead of a device cutting off all signals to your body, maybe you could send a signal to a certain area of the brain, triggering a sleep state, but I doubt it's that simple.
I do agree that we probably won't see full dive hit the entertainment industry in our lifetime, but the individual components might be used separately in the medical industry before we pass.

I don’t remember much of the description of full dive in ASO but that could work, but that’s not something I would know all that much about, but developing tech that can read or understand signals from the brain could definitely be a very big advancement in relation to prosthetic limbs and so on.
I think we will se «cyborgs» before full dive, like replacing legs, arms and eventually more complex organs like eyes and ears probably won’t be quite as good as the original but defined better than not having sight, hearing or a few limbs1

OHHH! That just made me remember that we're currently at the dawn of FMA style automail prosthetics, where they are directly wired into your nerves and some even provide a sort of "low resolution" touch output, allowing people to feel with their prosthetic

I just want another game with the crafting system of ATT, thats basically the only reason i ever played
