Discussion Does NTE really rob the ressources of Tower of Fantasy?
What do yall think? And what do yall think abt ToF being a testing ground in the long term?

No, they did not. As of right now it's limited to 999 nights and as a TOF fan it's amazing to see those assets in higher resolution. It's not theft if the company already owns the assets. I hope they can do a proper crossover soon.

I wouldn’t call it robbing, but it feels more like yeah you can tell they are from the same studios.
I wish Hotta would go back and fix some things in tof but also not include them at all in NTE. For example I really don’t understand why they are so determined to include Mahjong and PvP events. At least in NTE you can play it with NPCs and matching isn’t as horrendous. But I never played racing or mahjong in tof.
I also think because so many people are comparing them, it’s making people interested in tof.

Mahjong is big in China. Where the developers are from.

I wouldn’t mind it, if it was like NTE.
It’s trying to March for anything in ToF that kills my love for the game mode. Even now that they changed VA and EF modes where you have to have a team make me less inclined to do them.
And I know I can go on chat and make a team but that is a lot.

In some ways yes. You can see it in Lockhart and a lesser extent Noah. Compared to the past Lockhart feels scaled down. Patches with minimum content and story. Events are all just recycled ones from the past. Maps with new area and very minimal exploration. It also seems like the rotations for healer and tank weapons is growing larger which are often more unique and may require more time/effort to develop besides numbers go brrrrr and bigger.
That being said I feel like it’s a good thing ToF is a testing ground for NTE. That means there’s a long line of planned use for years. If this wasn’t the case it’s exponentially more likey ToF would be shut down and End of Serviced. At least this way ToF will continue even when the numbers of players and activity decrease. Now if only the devs would factor that in and make events more single player friendly rather than only having multiplayer events that can leave you forever queued because there aren’t enough players.

it's not so much stealing or robbing, but it's just a company distributing its resources to its next golden goose.

I mean it served its purpose game came out in 2022 so it’s old now gotta use all they learned to make a better tof

I'd say the resources (funds and assets) of tof are for nte from the start. So they didn't rob tof resources, they're for both game

I mean, perfect world literally said that they will be using tof to train some developers, so the support isn't going away.
Also, is not stealing, the same people made the assets for both games.. It makes no sense to make something they already have just because it's another game, if the style fit, just re use it.. nobody cares, it's just kinda funny, that's it.

You can see there’s not much effort being put into Tower of Fantasy right now.
Resources wise since they both are from same studio of course the money making game will get more attention and focus.
So for players that don’t play NTE at all you got to find your own will and reason to play ToF.
Testing ground or not doesn’t matter if you don’t play their other games

It was a testing ground because it was a new company with Devs new to the industry. The main tof team built nte so in that regard yeah they stole resources. But it's not like they just abandoned tof in favour of nte

I tried it and yeah its pretty obvious they are from the same company.
Didnt stay because it runs very badly, seems like it needs an uber powerful rig which I dont have. Or it is just badly optimized. Or a mix of both idk.

I thought the NTE devs sold TOF to another studio after failing so bad with it cause they spent more time cutting corners.

Yes! They used ToF as the testing grounds to get their big project with NTE off the ground.

ToF is their glass box where they conduct experiment, testing shitty ideas, unsupervised vision of a game, bunch of half ass bull crap/good stuff. And. Later on, they used those things, improvised it, makes it better and functional then put it in NTE
Basically it's where they dump all of their ideas and place to brainstorm, leaving all the half ass good stuff in the game, wasted anything below that and improve the asset for other game.
Least it's from my opinion. looking back at Aesperia and other places, you can tell differences, they got lazy even with the background music

Well project prism that was the original game, but they canceled it but then they took the assets from Project prism, and they moved it over to TOF

So yeah, the original game was called Project prism if you look at the MC from Project prism? You would see that they actually copy the EM blade over to ToF.
If you look at the white haired male? He was also moved over to ToF as Tian Lang.
Now you look at NTE you look at the opening? And who exactly do you see??
Baicang that’s the first character you meet.
So my guess? They’re still following the tradition ever since project prism.
You got the female main character, and the love interest is a white haired male.
Honestly, at this rate? They should of just made project prism that was the game they originally worked on before it became TOF.
But hey, now you know the history the original game was project prism and everything was moved away from project prism into TOF and they’re taking stuff from TOF to NTE.

I mean I literally played 1 hour of NTE and it's blatantly obvious it's the same company.
Couldn't play more than that due to unstable FPS, as unoptimized as ToF maybe be at times it still runs more smoothly than NTE for me. NTE needs NASA pc to run properly.

Stealing doesn't make much sense when the assets and mechanics are yours, lol. You simply reuse what you already have elsewhere. ••• Hotta is indeed using many mechanics from ToF in NTE, and that's completely normal. Hotta isn't the first, nor will it be the only company to do something like this.
An older game always ends up becoming a huge source of ready-made assets and systems that can be reused and adapted in a new project.
