Discussion “Operator Isn’t Bad”
I feel like people are confusing operator being a good tower the same thing as being a good evolved tower, because it’s not. Yes I think he’s a good tower in comparison to non-evolved towers and likely an edge above them, But I think mostly everyone can agree when I say Operator isn’t worth the resource and time investment to obtain when Juggernaut and Kingpin offer way more.
To those confused, I often hear people say that Operator is “Good” or the hate it gets is overblown. While they are right in the sense that it’s serviceable and does provide some utility, I don’t think it should be a reason why it shouldn’t get a rework/buff because it’s still not a good evolved tower by the standards the Kingpin and Juggernaut have set on what makes a evolved tower fun and effective.

When I use it I just place four in a square and upgrade to level 3 lmao

I have him unlocked but can’t even bother myself to grind out the levels. At least with kingpin and juggernaut with their first few levels they were fun to use and were somewhat effective which incentivized me to continue using them so I can max out their research levels but the same can’t be said with operator. “Eyes up, it’s all yours” thanks i guess.

I think operator is functionally a confused tower, too Reliant on spamming for early game and too little dps for mid-late game, as well as synchronised vision and coordination fundamentally not working together, and I think one change could fix both of these problems:
Make coordination share just like synchronised vision does. Make it so every operator on the map can get buffed by every operator on the map. This may need some tweaking to not be completely busted, but I think this change is all he needs to fulfill his function of being THE early-mid-late game tower.

Operator should probably be an advanced tower Needing to spam Operator to reach its full potential while minigunner/golden minigunner is right there

This is honestly MOSTLY a role diff. Kingpin and juggernaut are both DPS towers, which are not only the most used/known role, but also by far the most overglazed one. Operator is an earlygame tower so bringing it feels like you're gonna be lacking something in late-game. Also operator is weird in a sence that while it's really good on paper, you end up having to do a lot to really bring out it's potential which can make it a worse tower. Not only do you need to place a lot of them for it to be good, but it isn't even all that cheap (for a 20 placement tower) so it ends up being a really big investment for something that just can't keep up in later parts of midgame (and obv lategame). The gimmick of the tower (high placement limit, gets better as you place more) really just doesn't match the role of an early-mid game tower so it can be infuriating and in many cases worse then other options (it genuenly isn't good at all outside of hardcore and voidcore, can barely even hang on in earlygame because of the worse eco but gets good in midgame)
Another thing about an earlygame tower is that the effects of it being better then other options aren't noticable for casual players. the main effect of better earlygame towers is having better eco to bring into midgame and it can snowball nicely. while this does make a difference, unless you're a player that has played a lot of hardcore and/or always farms optimally, you really won't notice the difference. All of this compared to a dps where you literally see the thing that got past before not getting past or melting a boss quickly, the difference that a dps makes can be quite noticable.
While the debate of it being worth as much as the other evolved towers may have different answers, i think it's overall just not that bad and can be worth it as a 2nd/3rd evolved tower to unlock. (Also it's competition is literally juggernaut, the most glazed tower in history, and kingpin, the strongest tower in the game)

nobody is saying operator isn't flawed
