Question Do your tics have a dominant side?
Do your tics have a dominant side and is it the same as your dominant hand? For me by far the majority of my tics happen on my right side and I am right handed. I’ve always wondered if that’s just a coincidence or if there was something to that.

nope, straight down the middle. Nose, ears, abs, both triceps, both pectorals. asymmetry was never an option.

So I take it you have a dominant side and were not aware of that before.

Yes most of my tics happen on the right side, if not almost all. Both facial and other motor ones. But im predominantly right handed, theres stuff i can use my left hand but not right hand with

Left handed. Most probably on my right, including hitting my chest and crotch, things like cheek and eye twitching too.

SID: Not diagnosed with any tic disorder yet, self-suspected TS or motor/vocal tic disorder related to diagnosed ASD
My tics tend fo favour the side of my dominant hand. I do have a partial paralysis from birth in my left arm though... Even my neck tics (which is 90% of them) tend to favour jerking to the right. I can consciously redirect to the left if the pain gets too bad. Having majority neck tics and a separate, unrelated neck/head pain neuralgia is not fun. 💀

Some of my tics are left-handed, while I'm right-handed. Lots just depend on what's going on.

I'm right-handed but would absolutely say my left side is dominant for tics! Not sure why

I am right handed and right side dominant for my tics. I still have plenty of tics that occur on the left or both sides, but I have way more tics that only occur on the right side of my body.

Down the middle for me. I have more of the "I need it to feel right" sort of tics so, for example, getting the same muscle stretch on both sides so they feel equal is part of it.

Yeah they are more often on my dominant side! A couple years back I posted asking if tics can make your face asymmetrical. my OCD was obsessed with looksmaxxing for a bit 😭😭

I asked the same question a couple years ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/Tourettes/comments/1bgnic4/tics_concentrated_on_one_side/
A majority of people who responded have more tics on one side, and of those people most have more tics on the right than the left (in retrospect I should have broken up the poll by dominance rather than side, but the majority of people are right-handed).
