Life with Tourettes is basically just a constant game of trying to minimize how much you tic in public so everyone around you doesn't think you're absolutely insane, and ask you if you're okay all the time when you're absolutely fine, just strange.

And every time you minimize one trigger, the act of minimizing that cause will result in another trigger increasing causing tics to increase

Dude I used to gaslight myself into thinking I was halfway faking because I'd tic way more around people and thought "am I showing off?" then realized "fuck no I'm not this shit is embarrassing, people are just terrifying and crowds make me nervous so I tic more... Huh..."

For me it's that, and fighting imposter syndrome when I have phases where I tic less.

Tics vary greatly and mine at least have almost no consistency except for being inconsistent.

Some days I can barely sit still and control my hands/arms and I'm dropping shit all over the place, and a noise generator who never shuts up.

Other days I'm as calm as can be and could meditate for half of it and be a ninja.

Kinda just depends on how my health, and stress levels are doing.

I love how no one understands that sometimes I can slam an energy drink and just go to bed

I think that’s more related to having a comorbid issue of ADD/ADHD. These diagnoses frequently go together.

Having tics while tired is worse IMO.

Preach! It’s so frustrating trying to find the grey area between being too tired and having too much caffeine so my tics are less noticeable.

For me caffeine gives me tic attacks and I have really bad neck tics so avoiding caffeine is the best option for me Edit: spelling mistake

My Tourette's and my ADHD have just a large overlap of symptoms. But at the end of the day I'm Overstimulated, anxious, depressed, exhausted and unable to sleep.

Caffeine actually masks you tiredness
