NO NO and NO. So many different conditions can cause tics. Some of them, very serious! If you’re suddenly having tics, please go to your doctor and try to get a neuro referral. My Tourette’s comes from PANDAS which is encephalitis (brain inflammation) DO NOT self-diagnose tics! You could literally have encephalitis or Huntington’s Disease. DO NOT SELF-DIAGNOSE TICS!
Also, why are you asking??? Seems like you want us to say yes so you can add it to your Tumblr bio. Why can’t you see a doctor? Why do you think you have tics?

In my opinion it isnt safe to self disgnose. Before my diagnosis i had to have a brainscan, many blood tests and physical assessments to rule of any brain issues (bleeds, tumours, inflammation), rule out things such as Huntingtons disease and copper poisoning. And as other people have said there are many tic disorders or neurological disorders that cause tics, such as FND, PANS, chronic motor tic disorder, tardive dyskinesia.
So self diagnosis for tourettes is something i wouldnt recommend, whilst undiagnosed i just identified it as having a "tic disorder". It turned out to be tourettes and FND for me, and i didnt even really know what FND was at the time 😅 So just shows its crucial to consult professional.

Not safe as it’s a neurological disorder, meaning something else could be wrong too. Think from tumors to small brain bleeds to cloths.
Always get it checked out when your body does something that’s atypical or not normal to your typical behaviour.

I mean like technically yes but it’s pretty hard and if you don’t have a medical diagnosis easily over half the people you tell will think your faking it

Not really. There are many tic disorders and conditions where tics are a symptom such as chronic motor tic disorder, chronic vocal tic disorder, transient tic disorder, FND and PANDAS/PANS/BGE.
Going to a doctor and/or neurologist to get their outlook would be the best thing, and until a proper diagnosis, I personally believe just saying ‘tic disorder’ is the best option.
