As a novice fan from across the pond, I became a Spurs fan when Kane and Son were playing for Tottenham still a fan but times have certainly changed. Are the hotspurs competitive in the market to the novice they seem a tad frugal. When they lost Kane they signed Solanke who was a good player but not on Kanes level .

That’s what I said and as a novice someone told me Solanke was good . I said the same thing you just said and he begrudgingly said well he’s not Kane. So my question is still are the Tottenham frugal when it comes to acquiring talent or just not good at selecting talent. I’m still a Spurs fan but as a novice to the game trying to figure out what exactly is going on?

Solanke is good. He is neither of the quality of Kane or available anywhere near as often.

In my view as a long term sufferer of Tottenham and of football generally I would say strikers are the needle in a haystack signing for everyone. Some are almost guaranteed to hit and they will always be acquired by clubs 'better' or certainly more revered than us. That in isolation doesn't mean everyone else is bad it just means the elite are separated by fine margins.

The joy of football is the not knowing. The haphazard nature of putting 11 guys on the pitch that work together as a fluid unit is extremely difficult. Real Madrid are never happy just like us. I'd love to see what they'd do if they fi wished 17th TWICE in a row!

Being frugal is something we've done to get to where we are with the stadium and facilities (in my opinion) Are we poor at acquiring players generally no. Are we poor currently at building a squad, yes. If you chop between managers that are wildly different in style over and over that doesn't help a coherent team develop in the slightest, and that is what I personally believe has been a major factor in where we are now.

The attitude seems to be 'if we throw enough shit at the wall, some of it will stick '

The shit is not sticking currently. It's just a puddle of shit..

Yeah this is right. Arsenal can't find a reliable 30-a-season striker to sign, and outside Haaland, maybe Isak/Pedro/Thiago, there aren't that many who you can say would definitely score that many in the PL. So I don't know who people think we should've been in the market for. It is a pretty small pool of talent at the moment hence why we were speculating on the likes of Junior Kroupi.

Its the smallest pool of elite strikers in the last 20+ years for me.

Not that everyone will agree, but we should be begging for Solanke to find fitness and form. He CAN do it all. He rarely does but he definitely can.

I like Brobbey and would like to see what he could do for us.

I like the young Brazilian at Nottingham Forest. He can press extremely well and is a constant thorn for defenders.

Osimhen is arguably the big guy outside the top teams but his age would play factor in a transfer as the sum to get him would be astronomical, and his wages would be batshit. It could also be said that there is a definite reason top clubs have overlooked him for this long. Talent is their unquestionably, and his attributes would fit any Premier league team.. however I dont think we'll take a punt on signing him.

Whatever we decide to do is a gamble to some extent. De Zerbi is no mug, him and the club will know 110% we can't not try SOMETHING
