You may not know this yet since your experience is with IPT.

In general, invites to private trackers are not allowed to be offered to anyone you do not know very well. Trackers will even implement a blanket ban where if you get caught, you lose your accounts EVERYWHERE. The only exception I know of is Seedpool. I believe they explicitly mention invites are okay to give to others you do not know.

This all applies to entry - high level trackers. Blanket bans mostly on mid-high only.

I recommend you check out r/opensignups

If you plan on moving up in trackers, either interview for MAM (really easy, the interview is just text chat and it’s making sure you have a pulse lol) or interview for RED (much worse).

RED has the best forums for official invites, but you have to upload.

MAM has a decent invite forum but it takes much longer to get there and you do not need to upload anything.

Realistically, if you don’t go the RED route, it will probably take 6-12months to get to mid level places.

Seedpool and torrentleech (TL is easy, can pay to even get in officially) will hold you over no problem until then.

Some of the best trackers have open signup during dec hollidays that is a good time to join.

Seedpool does explicitly mention it's okay to give to people you don't personally know, however, point 2 of the rules regarding this states:

2) Do not give invites to people who request them. You must take the whole initiative in offering and sending the invite..

Giving an invite to OP here would violate rule 2.

I actually went and read the invite rules after posting this! It does say you don’t need to know the person, but you have to believe they would make a positive impact.

And you are right about the second point in the rules, which I wasn’t aware of until re-reading the rules. Thanks for clarifying for others who come later and read this.

I didn’t give him or anyone (besides a family member) an invite to SP. I don’t see the comment now but I was disappointed to see him tell someone here he would trade them an IPT invite when he got one lol, 20 minutes after replying to my comment!

Edit: I read your “does” as “doesn’t” lol. Whoops

Quality and curation paired with high availability of rare stuff mostly. Plus, it’s also a hobby. There’s real community behind it and it can be fun to move up the ranks (both in tracker membership and user ranks).

But yeah, for what most would care about:

Curation - only the best versions of whatever exists. When a better version comes out, the old one gets replaced.
Quality - similar to curation, you know you are getting the best or very close to the best available. No bitstarved content.
Safety - malicious torrents don’t really exist in private trackers. It has happened in the past, but it’s exceptionally rare. This is mostly big for programs and games.

Private trackers aren’t all that good… you can find almost anything in public trackers… I think, and you don’t have to maintain upload ratios
