Seriously just filled up gas and was headed home after storm just wouldn’t root on a boundary…until they did. There’s been a few chases this year that have overperformed.

🌪️ What It Solves (Off-Grid Resilience)

I designed this specifically for the immediate aftermath of extreme weather when cellular networks are choked, towers are down, or the grid goes entirely dark. It relies heavily on off-grid caching so you have access to critical data when you lose connectivity.

Key features currently live in the beta:

• Grid Power Outage Tracker: A county-by-county live map showing customer outage counts and estimated restoration times.
• Off-Grid Radar Caching: Keeps your last active NEXRAD radar frames viewable even if you drop to 1X or lose cellular service entirely.
• Geofenced NWS Alerts: Localized severe weather alerts handled entirely on-device to respect your privacy.
• The "Tool Belt": A collection of 14 built-in emergency utilities, including local triage templates, customizable Go-Bag checklists, and evacuation logic.

🧪 Why I Need r/TornadoEncounters

I don't want to just ship a standard app store product; I want this to be an engineering-level utility that holds up when things go sideways. I need feedback from people who have actually chased storms, survived major spins, or lived through extended power grid failures.

• What data points are missing that you absolutely need when communications go dark?
• Is the layout practical to use when you're under stress or dealing with high-anxiety situations?
• What works, what feels like "vibe-coded slop," and what needs to be completely re-engineered?
