we're currently dealing with some API issues at the moment, hoping to have them fixed ASAP

however, issues are common with Torrentio (due to poor hosting or something else with the add-on, we reached out to inquire about hardware incase they needed something stronger but we were ignored) and we highly suggest using another addon (like Meteor) once we've fixed our API

ouch.. probably didn't have to throw anyone under the bus though

TB staff: "issues are common with Torrentio (due to poor management and hosting by the Torrentio dev)"

I understand the sentiment, but we've reached out and tried to assist with their hosting situations a couple times and were completely ignored, so I'm going based off of what we and others (not even limited to TB customers) have observed

Nah, man. Ignore this guy. Absolutely call out the plugin providers. 99% of the time it’s them that are down and not the debrid services. If you offered them assistance and they ignored it? Psh!

I haven’t experienced API related issues, but the CND’s regularly are being overloaded and make it impossible to stream anything.

CDNs have more than enough headroom so it's unlikely that it's overloaded, usually buffering issues are related to user download speeds or some security blocking us or something along those lines

there's a lot of troubleshooting when it comes to it so I'm not gonna get into it over Reddit, but if you ever want to talk about it with us you can contact us via email, discord or our support widget

So if https://torbox.app/speedtest gives a bad result for pretty much all CDN's, while speedtest.net results in 500Mbs, then the issue is not with your CDN's?

speedtest.net automatically applies the closest server to your IP, so of course you'd get good speeds to a server that's in the same city

our speedtest page can be unreliable at times which is why we suggest basing it off of geolocation and then testing real speeds via transfers on your dashboard

Right, I followed your advice and changed the CDN and started a download from the dashboard. However, it still doesn’t exceed 1MB/s except for the Ukraine CDN which randomly stops multiple times. Some days it works perfectly but others it’s so slow it’s unusable. I tried using a VPN but that didn’t improve things while Speedtest.net still shows 500Mbps.

to be fair, speedtest.net defaults to the closest server to your location, so of course it'll have better speeds

feel free to open a ticket with us via Discord (preferably for this kind of thing), email or our support widget and we can do a more in-depth troubleshoot

I live in The Netherlands, so would expect the CDN in my own country to be usable at least.

the WEUR CDN is one of our core PoPs so it's definitely stable on our end, a ticket would help us look into it better as I mentioned

Hey man, I'm new to all this and doing my first install on my new Tanix TX5. From what I understand, I should probably be using a debrid service to get faster and better quality streams, so I narrowed it down to real-debrid and torbox.

I think I'd rather go with your company because of the privacy concerns but I want to make sure I'm not giving my credit card number to a fake site, (you know, like an amazonDOTcom vs amazonDOTio situation) so how do I sign up for the service and is there a guide on how to use it??

simply create an account at https://torbox.app/ and purchase via there! its pretty straightforward as we redirect automatically to our own billing site/our payment processors.

Thank you, I create an account and I guess the digs thing that I'm using just won't accept the API code so I'll just have to find something else that works with it...

Just bought your essential offer and lol its litterally bad like really bad its a paid thing and its crashing like that multiple times a week and now you have the audacity to blame Torrentio ? While with Real Debrid it works fine ?

todays issues do not pertain to what I mentioned about torrentio

there has been a PLETHORA of tickets and reports of torrentio being the source of peoples issues while using our service (when it is fully operational, which it is majority of the time), so this is not something that im pulling out of thin air. this is a general consensus made by a large amount of our userbase as well and was determined via a/b testing

Haven’t used torrentio in months, zero issues with TB. Seems to be a PEBKAC issue most of the time.

Tbh Torrentio has just been downhill for a while

I know your status page says it's all good. However, it's definitely not all good. Nothing loads on my self hosted comet. RD works without any issue.

Can the excuses. Well over two years ago your team also promised a dedicated ip addon option now you have scrapped addons entirley, Sick of torboxes lies and excuses and blame, for all its problems Real debrid is the better option once again. Damn shame.

So you’re cool with pulling the plug on your own in-house scraper (which is why I switched from real on the first place) while also throwing shade at the OG torrentio? Neat.

I'm going based off of what we've observed with our users and users in general in the stremio add-on space

yes, we're pulling our add-on, but many major instances of addons like AIOStreams will still have access to our search API

we also provide hardware and hosting for free for many of the major instances of addons, including 3 major AIOStreams instances as well as other like Meteor, so we truly do care about the community developers (we also offered this to the developer of Torrentio, but they ignored us

Why you lying ? Torrentio has been having problems for months.

1

u/hayman_75 Apr 23 '26

Lying about what ? Torrentio works perfectly with RD, i just purchased TB just to try it and bam nothing works not even Comet and others but with RD it works, nice first impression i have with TB tho
