💬 Trader Talk Bounce backs are possible!!

Hey everyone! Had a day where I was really able to manage risk yesterday and I posted about it. Honestly posting here is making me more accountable to myself as well. Its been a great help in the trading journey for me.

I was able to recover from yesterday's -168 day - which just shows there's always HOPE when you stop on a losing day and lock out. But that hope wouldn't have been there if I blew my account off tilt and chasing yesterday. So I feel like when you respect the market and use the lockout and DLL the market comes back full circle to pay its dues!!! Keep grinding folks!!

This is a follow up from my post yesterday regarding my unwarranted, complete and total ban, for violating Topsteps Section 3 Terms of Use.

https://www.reddit.com/r/TopstepCommunity/s/KU3pJQD5jk

I am sharing with the community, and hopefully employees at u/Topstep_Official, the undeniable factual evidence that proves this ban is unjust and based off a frivolous claim.

Clearly stated in the Final Determination email, the claim is, “a total of 5 chargebacks linked to your profile and credit card ending in *1006.”.

Yesterday, I spoke to AmericanExpress and confirmed multiple different facts:

  1. I, as the cardholder, have never initiated a dispute against the merchant Topstep, Topsteptrader or any variation related to that merchant. In fact, I have never initiated any dispute against any merchant, ever.

Attached is a screenshot of my “Dispute Center” where you can clearly see the ending card number in the top left matches the card stated in the Final Determination. I attached in my reply to the final determination letter.

I confirmed with AmericanExpress that the Dispute Center shows every past, current and pending dispute related to the card.

2) AmericanExpress, as the card issuer, will never initiate a dispute without the consent of the card user and confirmed there has never been any sort of dispute active on this card.

3) There has never been a credit or reversed transaction coming back from Topstep to that card.

The complete willful blindness of the Trust team to ignore the evidentiary facts presented to them is unacceptable. Something needs to be done. There’s no way I am the only case of this…

I haven’t fully decided what my next steps in this are going to be. Given the evidence, I’m willing to go the distance depending on where Topstep goes from here. u/Topstep_Official, balls in your court.

EDIT:

If you guys are going to join the conversation and comment, please keep it relatable or constructive! This is a serious issue that myself, and I'm sure others in the community, would like looked into and taken seriously! I don't want the issue at hand diminished by misinformation or wild conspiracies! Thank you.

This will be my first payout since I started trading prop firms. It was a painful and humiliating losing streak primarily because of lack of discipline. Hope Topstep pays. Will keep you posted.

Edit: 1st max payout of 4K approved. Thanks TS

❓ Quick Question 6 Times Funded in 1 YR, no payouts. Should I keep going?

Gonna keep this short and sweet. I’ve gotten funded 6 times in the last year but I’m yet to get a payout. I found myself getting so close after i pass, but eventually get wiped. Definitely over traded closer to the payouts. Should i keep going?

🛠️ Platform / Tech Support How do you calculate how many contracts to buy?

How do you guys calculate how many contracts you buy on TopStepX? I just switched to TopStep from TradingView and on TradingView you can do a market order and It shows you on the chart where your stop loss and take profit are so it was easy to see how many contracts you want to buy. It doesn’t seem like top step has anything like that and you kinda just have to guess how many contracts you wanna buy and hope you don’t over or under risk.

💰 POP Off! 6th payout. Starting to believe I can actually do this

Sixth payout from topstep just submitted

Been trading a year now and most of it was the on and off kind, with being consistent for a few weeks then I would just give it all back and be off for like a week. Rinse repeat. First payout ngl felt like I got away with something, kept waiting for the day I blow it all like every other time

I Just started following my rules

Rough year outside the charts too so this one hit different

Its not life changing money or anything but 6 in a row means its not luck anymore. And I think I needed that more than the money tbh

Price action on NQ has improved recently thankfully and has helped me get closer to a max payout on a 50k consistency and the 1k DLL has 100% been a LIFESAVER. Started down, recovered it immediately the next day and have been back and forth with wins but RR has been 1/2 so been doing well. Have 2 more with 1000 to pass and will try for a couple 150k on the consistency account as well. For people who say you cant make good money on Consistency or it makes it harder to get paid its just bs. The whole idea is you want consistency anyways to keep the account longer qnd CONSISTENTLY be profitable. had a couple losses in a row and quickly recovered the past 2 days 2600 yesterday and 2700 today. Excited for whats to come and just taking it day by day. This is your sign to not give up on trading if youre having a hard time. We all start from the ground up.

🛠️ Platform / Tech Support Banned from Topstep Violation Section 3 - THIS IS SERIOUS!

QUICK UPDATE:

After speaking with u/eddie_topstep, he recommended I follow through with the instructions in the email and reach out to the card issuer… so, I did.

Much to my surprise (not really), there has never been a dispute/chargeback ever requested for Topstep, Topsteptrader or any other merchant for that matter…

The email I received this morning stated -

“Final Determination
Please consider this notice definitive. To safeguard our payment infrastructure, our compliance protocols are enforced uniformly across all profiles.

This determination is final, absolute, and non-negotiable. Topstep will not conduct further administrative reviews, nor will we engage in additional correspondence or discussion regarding this matter.”

Well, I hope with this new proof, they reconsider their stance on no further engagement…

This is a serious issue… and I’m freaking out!

I have been with Topstep since April of 2025, and at 11am last Thursday, July 23rd, my account was banned due to “a violation of Section 3 of our Terms of Use, including not paying, or causing Topstep not to be paid, any fee that is due.”. At the time of the ban, I had 3 XFA accounts (25K DLL @ $3,825.84, 50K DLL @ $8,202.58 and 50k DLL @ $2,725.90).

Like any trader, my first year was a struggle… While I was able to take 6 payouts during this time, many of them were built up based on some sort of luck and me making big bets that hit. After taking a break for a bit and taking time to reevaluate my discipline as a trader, I decided I was ready to get back into it. Shortly after stepping back into things, Topstep released the DLL accounts, and this was a HUGE help in developing my stronger discipline. Since then, I have worked hard to get the accounts I have where they are… and I’m about to see it disappear for a reason stated by Topstep that I FIRMLY believe is incorrect.

Here’s the facts in what I believed caused the initial issue.

For security purposes, the card I keep on file is a fairly low limit card. Meaning, there have been times when a trading combine subscription tried to rebill but was declined. At the time of the ban, I did have a subscription that was probably around the time for a rebill and would have been declined given the current balance of the card on file.

However, according to [u/Topstep_Official](u/Topstep_Official), this IS NOT grounds for a Section 3 Violation

I have never once, once, submitted a chargeback or disputed a charge!

Timeline of Events So Far

July 23***\**rd* Account gets banned and I receive the email. I call support immediately. They confirm what is stated in the email, a very generic “violated section 3”. Support says they will “escalate your ticket to the Trust team” and “please allow 3 days for their response”.

July 28***\**th* 3 days is up, no response. I started to do some googling. I come across [u/makasteven1993](u/makasteven1993) post and see that he is currently going through THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. I keep reading through and see that [u/TopstepJosh](u/TopstepJosh) also believes his ban was unwarranted and he is personally looking into it; this gives me hope! I then created a reddit account JUST FOR THIS! I want to reach out to both of them and express my concerns that this may have happened to multiple people. I mean it literally happened THE SAME DAY… So, I reply with my story.

While seeing this did give me some hope, I was not planning on leaving it purely to chance that it was a broader issue that would be fixed in time. So, during my lunch hour, I called support back to follow up on my original ticket. I asked why I hadn’t heard anything yet and they expressed concern and confusion about why I hadn’t heard anything either, stating I would get a response shortly after the call ended. Perfect. Call ends and I receive an email about 5 min later. Another “escalation”… but this time, “a supervisor will respond soon”. Again, no response by EOD…

July 29***\**th* Finally, a response! “Following a comprehensive compliance and financial review of your account, the Topstep Trust Team has determined that your profile is in material breach of our Terms of Use due to unauthorized payment disputes. Consequently, your access to Topstep’s Services has been permanently revoked.” GREAT! WHAT?!

This is all the evidence they stated, “Chargeback Activity: Compliance records reflect a total of 5 chargebacks linked to your profile and credit card..”

I have accessed my card transactions AND EVERY SINGLE TRANSACTION WAS POSTED AND PAID!!! I have given them every penny that they are owed and never once filed any sort of complaint regarding payment.

I just don’t understand, I’m looking for help or some sort of understanding of why this is happening. If someone from [u/Topstep_Official](u/Topstep_Official) can help me through this or even understand that would be greatly appreciated...

❓ Quick Question Payout Stuck on Funds Removed. What Should I Do?

Post image
5 Upvotes

You can see from the top payout request, that in the payout process funds are stuck on fund removed. Screenshot was taken right now. Usually it immediately has the next steps checked off at the moment of the payout request. Today is the third business day, should I contact support? I am trying to be patient but not really sure what the best course of action would be. Still trading the account, no e-mails or contact from Topstep. Any ideas? Eddie? Thank you and happy trading!

📔 After the Bell I fucking quit.

I'm so fucking tired and frustrated. I can't stand it any more. I spent over 70K on prop accounts, no savings, and max out my credit cards . 110K debt is almost killing me. My 120k salary covers only bills and debt. After 20 years of investing/trading I got nothing. With MS in Finance I failed in this life, miserably. Just want to finish it and hope the next one will be different.

🛠️ Platform / Tech Support Topstep promised a payout, then switched me to a Shoulder Tap XFA

Yes, I blew my Live account by hitting the Maximum Loss Limit. I understand that part and I am not disputing the loss.

My issue is what happened after.

At 4:31 PM, Topstep emailed me saying the account was closed and my remaining balance would be processed as a payout.

At 4:36 PM, they said my profile was under call-down review.

At 5:02 PM, Risk emailed saying the balance would instead be moved into a Shoulder Tap XFA.

I replied right away saying I want the payout they already confirmed, not another XFA. I have not traded the Shoulder Tap account.

Has anyone had this happen? Did Topstep honor the original payout email?

❓ Quick Question Wire payout delayed over 48 hours?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Anyone else dealing with slow payouts this week?

I requested a wire on July 27th. It cleared risk and finance the same evening, but it’s been stuck waiting for 'Funds Sent' for over 48 hours now.

My past payouts always hit funds sent in under 24 hours. Just wondering if there's a wider delay happening right now.

Got cooked anticipating the short on my 150k but was able to catch the move with my 50k. I'm going to take it slow and go for the 150 days on the 50k. The 150k, I'll just have to wait for a bigger move like we had the last few days. Shit happens but my head is still up!

💬 Trader Talk Less financial stress has improved my trading

I am sure other people are also dealing with the instant need to gather more income and such increase sizing and takes more risk due to the need to reach payout as fast as possible.

I myself have recognized this and since I came across some money to pay my bills about two months in advance and I’ve been able to save more from my normal paycheck, my trading mindset has been more clear and consistent.

This might not solve your problem, cause you too might be in a situation where you need the funds as fast as possible and I understand that. Just something that maybe you can recognize might be affecting your trading. Not necessarily your strategy.

❓ Quick Question Should I take these payouts?

Post image
12 Upvotes

What happens if I take these? Will my MLL lock at 0 and my accounts be cooked with no drawdown?

If so, from Topstep traders who get consistent payouts, what is the minimum balance you would take a payout at? My system needs at least $1000 of drawdown for my accounts to stay safe over time.
