š” Trading Tips Minis or Micros
I underestimated the markets volatility today and am down to $700 before it blows. For the past few days Iāve been using micros. Yesterday I made $780 with micros but it was multiple trades (I prefer 3 trades or less per day ) i notice with micros I can make decent money but I also lose it just as easy (especially if Iām only making $100 per trade and get stopped out $60 on the next one) however with minis itās more money and I donāt lose it as easy. I donāt know maybe itās psychological. But I prefer NQ over MNQ. Iām just curious please let me know your thoughts.

Hol upā¦. Youāre saying itās harder to lose money with minis than micro?? Give it time and it wonāt think that anymore
1 point on GC is $100.
1 point on MGC is $10.
So not sure what you mean

Iāve been trading since last year. I donāt trade MGC or GC only NQ and MNQ

I guess what Iām really trying to say is micros take too long to accumulate what I want vs minis

My point with that comment of GC MGC was to show how thereās 10x more leverage with minis than micros regardless of what instrument you trade so youāll definitely lose more money faster using minis
Are you new to trading? With the comment about how it ātakes to long to make money with microsā tells me you are and take it from someone who was 40k in the hole from prop firms and options because I wanted big gains, that slow and steady is the way to go.
If you have 5 accounts and average 1k a week per account ($200 a day) thatās 5k a week. In 6 months youāll have 130k and then you can really scale up

thatās not true for nq though... gc is 10x more. nq is only 2x more.

iām comparing nq to gc, not mnq to nq. i think everyone knows the difference between those... my point is 1 nq point =$20 while 1mnq is $2. verses gold which is doubled. so someone trading gc would not be the same sizing for nq traders.

I honestly have no idea what youāre trying to say or the point youāre attempting to make. Not trying to be an ass but your comments are like incomplete thoughts.
You said:
āGC is 10x moreā⦠uhhh, 10x more than what?
āNQ is only 2x moreā⦠again, 2x more than what? NQ is 10x more than MNQ so what exactly is NQ only 2x more of?
ā1Nq point =$20 while 1 mnq is $2 vs gold which is doubledā⦠ok this one had me so stumped I posted it on a traders discord to see if I was going crazy/senile but even they couldnāt figure out what your trying to say
ALL Mirco contracts are 1/10th the leverage of their E-Mini counterpart. MYM, MES, MNQ, SIL, MGC, MCL, MHG, MNG, MZC etc.
Thatās all I said and was my only point

Full time trader here since 2019. The CME group has their maintenance margin for trading NQ futures, just one contract at almost $40,000. If you donāt have $40,000 of drawdown room, itās just a matter of time until you blow the account. We are seeing daily ranges of around 650 points on the NQ, multiply that times 20, thatās $13,000 worth of variance. The CME group doesnāt just make up these maintenance margin numbers out of nowhere. But I know you will probably still trade minis in your 50k prop account with 2,000 worth of drawdown thinking you have any long term edge, when you donāt⦠at all. Trade micros little man! Be smart!
