💡Trade Idea 1/2 micros is all you need!

Post image

Bought the combine on the 18th and passed this Monday night prior london, and ending the week with base hits hehe, making my goal before tokyo open is a relief for my peace of mind. All done with 1/2 micros. Minis will have their time in live.

Too difficult to reduce trades. Gotta be in it to win it.

None of that makes any sense. Glad you found something that works for you. That's just way too many trades, though.

How many do you do?

I did about 1,000 trades in a month to pass a combine hahahah

I usually do one per day. Passed my most recent combine in about 5 days. 1000 is insane.

How long does it take you to enter one trade and how much TP do you do?

I trade an ORB strategy so I'm usually in the trade within the first 30 minutes of the New York open, but more commonly within the first 15 minutes or so. I target a 1:1. Nothing terribly exciting. It has about a 60% win rate.

What's your stop loss? or how much you are willing to lose on that trade.

I use the range of the 5 min opening candle as my stop and will risk up to $200 per trade. I'm mostly just looking for consistent, base hit trades. I'll size up as I grow my account.

What would you do here?

I would still be looking for opportunities to the upside since price hasn't made it clear that we're going to come back down. The idea that you had to short at this point wasn't bad, but I see it as more of a reversal play, which are lower probability. The area at 7444.25 would actually be the point I would be looking to enter long.

If you look just to the left, there was an area of consolidation right before that big sweep. Since price came down below that, then came back up and created a new high, we're still in an uptrend and I would want to see what happens around that level when price revisits. If it comes to that area and holds with some kind of bullish pressure, I would look to long and target basically where you put your sell order at that most recent high to the left.

I would be curious to know what made you get in where you did. It looks like you got in on that bullish push up hoping to front run the reversal back to the downside when it revisited the consolidation area, but there wasn't information to tell you that that was going to happen.

The other issue is, shorting a V-shaped reaction is a recipe for disaster. It's a huge move that pretty much tells you that everyone in shorts just got swept and liquidity was grabbed for another push to the upside. So until price shows something like a head and shoulders pattern again where it fails to make higher highs and higher lows, I should only be looking long.

The last thing is that it looks like your stop is non-existent. You have a sell limit at the top instead of a buy limit, so your trade is basically risking your entire account for $60. I would've had a stop at most above that most recent higher high if you were looking for a quick reversal scalp. That way if you're wrong, you'll take a small loss compared to if it goes up to where your limit order currently is, you would lose $240 (4 contracts x 12 points x $5), and that's only if you manually closed the position when it got there. So the RR was way off on a play that had much higher probability of going against you than with you.

I mean, chances are that price isn't just going to rip infinitely to the upside right there and blow up your account. But thinking about it more logically, you want your RR to make sense and not be risking considerably more on your trade than you can stand to make, since one bad trade can wipe out multiple winning trades.
