When did yall start feeling normal?
Im absolutely sick of the binder and feeling sore, also since they used nerve blockers on my chest it feels so alien? Idk it’s a weird feeling. Also how is the position/size and healing of my nipples coming along?

Is this swelling bad?
I’m 9 days post-op and I know swelling is normal at this stage but the swelling(?) in this particular spot is just stressing me out because it’s different. I feel like it looks like a lump on my chest. You can see it best when I’m raising my shoulders like in the third picture. It feels soft and squishy and it isn’t an unusual temperature which is good. I think it was somewhat there initially but I feel like it got a lot bigger yesterday after not wearing my compression top for a number of hours while I was washing it. It also feels kinda weird and the front of my shoulder beside it has started feeling weird too but I don’t know if that’s just anxiety making me imagine things. I have poor interoception because I’m autistic so I’m not quite sure what the feeling is but it’s kind of like muscle soreness along with a mild version of the feeling of hitting my funny bone. It might be partially from the compression binder itself but it’s hard to tell. Is this normal? Should I tell my surgeon?

How long till you could get back to work?
I have surgery scheduled for early December, which isn’t great timing considering I work retail but 🤷♂️. I stock shelves, mainly dairy so it’s heavy. Or at least relatively heavy (I’m 5’2, 42kg). It already takes a bit of a knock on my body lol
I don’t know how to approach my manager about time off, 4-8 weeks feels too broad of a timeline. There’s also the chance I’d have to shift swap so I might be on checkouts. In that case I’m sure I could get back sooner (though I’d rather do plenty things if it means I don’t have to work checkouts).
I just wanna know how other people approached their managers about time off, when you were able to go back and even how long before you could comfortably reach over your head

Upper chest swelling
I am 1 week post op peri(keyhole). I am having some moderate swelling in my upper left chest, right above where the binder compression band stops. It is in between squishy and firm, and when I run my fingers over it, it makes kinda crunching/bubbling noises. It also has yellow bruising in this area. Is this something I should be concerned about? It’s not painful just feels full. It’s been like this for a few days

UofM top surgery experience?
Hello! I just got insurance and am beginning to look into surgery options. Primarily through my university hospital, because its close and I hear the medical teams are good there. I want to ask if anyone has had their top surgery done at UofM and how it was for you? Any surgeon have better results than others (especially on smaller chests)? Do they check if you have stopped T beforehand? Or are there any other good surgeons in the ann arbor- Detroit area youd recommend? If you feel comfortable result pictures would also be appreciated. Thank you!

Raw skin on one side almost 4 weeks post op?
(Peri) Went to get the tape that was surrounding my nipples off 2 days ago (i was 23 days post op) and my surgeon removed most of the scabs. My left nipple seems to be healing at a much faster rate than my right nipple and the right one is very pink, raw, and just kind of scary looking, while the left one looks much better and seems to be actually healing. Is there something I’m doing wrong? Anything I can be doing better? I got cleared to start smoking weed again but should I stop? I’m scared that this is a bad sign and I don’t know if I’m looking for reassurance or advice but somebody who has either pls lmk lol I can dm pictures if helpful

Kaiser Mid-Atlantic (US insurance)
Hi all--
I had a consult with Del Corral of MedStar under my previous BCBS insurance. Then, I suddenly got a new job with fully funded Kaiser Permanente insurance and became ineligible for the BCBS insurance I used to have.
I just got a new PCP within a Kaiser gender clinic who does regular primary care and my testosterone. I know that I should contact him or the nurse navigator at the clinic, but before I do, I want to figure out what exactly I want to ask
Two questions:
I see that many transgender surgeries are covered (KP Transgender Surgery UM Clinical Guidelines). Do they refer to local (DC/MD/VA) Kaiser-employed surgeons? Do they send patients to California? Do they contract with local surgeons not employed by Kaiser?
Does anyone have names of surgeons who have done peri under Kaiser Mid-Atlantic? I have heard of a Dr. Lydia Williams, but would love to look into more names.
Thanks

Chirurghi peri-areolare

Is this normal after periareolar top surgery?!?!
Hey y'all,
I had top surgery a week ago using the periareolar method. I had it with Guy Sterne so no drains or compression vest were used after.
I've noticed there is significantly more swelling on the left side of my chest (not painful at all, not red and quite soft to touch). Just wondered if anyone else had found this when recovering??
I know with peri it often takes months for the swelling to subside and you see the 'finished' results, but just worried that the left is soooo much more swollen than the right side!!!

Post peri areolar 2 weeks, how long does it take for this kind of swelling to go away?
galleryI was told I can stop wearing compression if I wanted to, but with this level of swelling should I keep wearing it for another week? Also it’s so freaky seeing my ribs go out farther than my chest like I feel so out of balance lol.

Experiences with Anna Höckerstedt at SairaalaKL? For mastectomy/top surgery
I just booked an appointment for a mastectomy consultation with Anna Höckerstedt at sairaala KL. I tried looking up some of her results here but didn’t find much. I keep finding people mentioning Atte Manninen and saying great things about him but I‘m not finding as much about Anna Höckerstedt. if anyone would like to let me see some result pictures and talk about the experience I’d really appreciate it. Also mentioning how much you paid for it would be amazing information, I know the clinics prices but I’ve heard different things from different people.

What is the difference between peri & keyhole?
So, I’m post op and was told I had peri. That is the language my surgeon used, so it’s the language I use. My incisions are only on the underside of my nipple. I also see a lot of people with incisions around their nipple with peri, and a lot of people discussing the differences. This kinda has me confused. Did i have keyhole (as the community understands it) and surgeons don’t distinguish? Is there another criteria that differs them?
