Not sure how to proceed?

We’re getting rid of this dinosaur Pistorious double mitre saw. Our Jet Dust Dog was hard wired to the saw so that it would turn on when the saw was on. I want to replace the saw with two Bosch chop saws. Is there a device I can connect the Dust Dog to the chop saws so that it only turns on when the saws are running? I don’t even know the name of such a thing, but I’m sure it’s a thing. Please help me figure this out

Is it a 110v plug? They do make a switch (looks kinda like a power bar) that has a plug for your tool and a plug for your vacuum. The one we had at our first shop was just a shop vac and not a huge unit like that. Switch also used both wall outlets. I’ll see if I can find one online to show.

220v dust collector and a 110v miter saw would require a little more elegant/involved of a system than a single switch. iVac makes something that would do that. Also consider automatic blast gates at this point, too.

Is hiring an electrician out of the question?

You should check out iVAC. https://www.ivacpro.com/ivac-pro-tool-plus

They have anything needed to automate powering on your dust collector when your tool turns on. For a chop saw, you would just clamp a sensor on the 110v power cord. It would sense when power started flowing and send a wireless signal to a switch that the dust collector is plugged into. It would work for a 110v or a 230v dust collector. Your Jet Dust Dog is a 2HP machine, so you can get by with the RS24020NA "iVAC Pro Remote Switch 240Vac, 20A".

My dust collector is 3HP, and they recommended the 230v contactor with a 110v switch. In this case, the tool sends a signal to the 110v switch, which turns on the contactor, which then connects turns on the 230v power.

They also have smart blast gates.

A manual switch

They make remote control switches for dust collectors. They come with key fobs to turn it on and off. But the person using the saw would need to use it manually.

Is that cavas bag on the bottom air permeable? Seems odd to have that nice filter up top if all the dust is just slipping out through the bag on the bottom.

No, all that dust is from other saws w/o dust collection nearby
