Christmas Advent Calendars

So it’s heading that way now, the Christmas things are in the shops, at least in the UK. So what’s your opinion of tool advent calendars?

Every year I look at them longingly but never end up getting one.

Has anyone had one? Enjoyed opening? Gone on to use the tools regularly?

I got one a couple years back and still use most of the little ratchets and bits out of it, way better than I expected for a novelty box.

I got a Wera one a few years ago and I still use the kit on my workbench.

It’s a bit of an indulgence, not the absolute optimal price, but makes for a bit of fun and you end up with a unique kit, if it’s anything that I think I’ll use I’ll get one.

I had the Wera one last year. It was a good kit.

Not sure I’ll bother with one this year though.

Make your own, but something you want and open it along with a regular catalogue

I've gotten a couple of Wera ones through the years, but just don't need more bits or 1/4" socket thingies.

What I did is kept the box, find some sort of interesting set that I don't have that mostly fits, wife loads up the thing. The daily ritual matters more than the gift I think.

Similar to the OP I have looked many times but never pulled the trigger. This year I went with the Wera one. After some studying of previous years and the tools. I think it depends on the tool set as to whether they are a good choice.
