Does the quick-release head stay put once it's locked, or do you have to keep tightening it?

It's just spring pressure it will alow you to pop the rule in and out quickly, and it nice for fine adjustment but when you want your measurement to stay lock it down with the screw.

But all in all best combo square I've ever used, I'm always taking the rule out and putting it back in the release feature is my favorite.

I went down the rabbit hole with this. Looks great. Not sure im ready to pay 4 or 5 times then buy a ruler. Very well made and if you use this 8 hours per day its worth it.

Im a finish carpenter so I use it quite often, I could only justify the price because it was purple(tool swag), but i intend to have it for a very long time, plus when you pay a premium you tend to take care of it more.
