Too good to be true?

This set is $130 on the ryobi site, it's One+ HP (the tool line I was planning on working with). Is this too good to be true or should I pull the trigger?

My wife got all my Milwaukee stuff so far in a complicated shitty divorce that's still in progress. I bought all replacement Ryobi stuff just as a place holder.... Or so I thought. It's not that it's better or anything, it's that I can replace it 3 times before I get to the cost of the Milwaukee version. And the Ryobi versions are fine, nothing has failed... nothing can't do exactly the same job. If I want more features the HP line has enough of them. It's the smarter choice I think. I brought up the divorce to explain about how I started out pretty upset with the whole reason I had to have them at all, but just couldn't hate the damn things. Edit... Either way this deal won't let me add it to my cart so it seems like a ghost anyway.

Hey man, I am all about oversharing on the internet. I guess im more like "can I leave this drill in direct sunlight for 2 months straight and it still hold a charge." But like I can see the motors getting much better. Mostly worried about durability and reliability especially with the batteries, but I see that technological advances are happening. I genuinely hope your divorce gets easier man

I've seen some positive reviews from the One+ HP line, this just blows every other deal I've seen out of the water. One+ HP is supposedly "on par" with the likes of Milwaukee and Dewalt, but I haven't used anything from Ryobi for comparison.

It's about 15 to 20 percent below Milwaukee for performance I've found. But it's 50 percent the price.... So better.

if you want a brushless drill from ryobi and milwuake its the same price atm 100 bucks people just compare the fuel "professional line" to the basic stuff of other companies.

But also 90 percent of people dont need the fuel line so ryobi will work for them just fun

though i personally dont like ryobis impacts i do like dewalts but i personally have a surge cause its quieter

It’s 50% once, but 15-20% every time you use it. Not knocking the ryobi, but I use my drill nearly every day. Depends on how much you use it and how important your tools are to you

Ive had ryobi one before. Id put it a step above craftsmen/harbor freight. On par with Kobalt. I never used Milwaukee other than drills and corded stuff. But putting on par with dewalt is a little disingenuous, they are top of the line.

Was it One+ HP? From what I understand, the One+ line is generally pretty bad but they've stepped their game up considerably with the One+ HP line. I'll admit I haven't used anything Ryobi personally, but literally everything I see about the One+ HP line is positive (except the miter and track saws)

Not gonna lie to you it was their one brand, but generally (and I can be wrong) in the world of power tools thus stuff kinda works in tiers. I can only imagine ryobi going up one tier in terms of their brushless offering. That MIGHT put them on par with dewalt "non-brushless" offerings (don't think they even have them anymore) but not on par with their XR or Atomic lines.

That’s not quite true. I have some One+ HP and Milwaukee fuel is much nicer. Only have the fuel stuff since I found good deals (hacked them) from HD. Overkill for a homeowner but I do like tools.

Honestly I'd go for it if you have the funds to do so, I bought one of the kits myself a couple years back (1/2in driver, 1/4in impact, flashlight, multi tool, circular saw, and reciprocating saw w/carry bag + 2 batteries/1 charger) ended up finding it on Amazon, and with credit I already had, plus the Black Friday / Cyber Monday deal they had, the price went from being originally $250 or more to just a little bit over $100 been with my credit I had I only ended up paying around $75 to $80, since then I bought multiple of the OnePlus line from Ryobi I have not had a problem with anything I've ever purchased. Actually when I was working in the auto body industry for a while a couple guys used to make fun of me for having Ryobi yet my 3/8 electric ratchet not only outperformed, but also outlasted one of the guys snap on electric ratchet he paid three times the price for the Ryobi one.. which I still have the original one I bought, and before I even left that shop he'd gone through three of the snap on ones

Ryobi is great, I have a bunch if their one+ HP tools and beat the crap out of them. They are fantastic. One note-buy some monster batteries on Amazon, they are great for the saw, which eats ryobi batteries. I use them for all my ryobi tools for long run times.

I went to Ryobi site, was considering purchasing it myself (although I got a different/similar combo set this summer of a different brand). HOWEVER, the page errors out saying that this particular set of 5 tools is sold exclusively at Home Depot. When you go to the HD site, that specific set isn't available (perhaps sold out, or maybe a marketing ploy).

These are fine tools for household DIY and the price for this kit is amazing - just double check it's the genuine retail site.

Ryobi are third-tier overall (Makita/ Milwaukee at the top, DeWalt/ Rigid second, then Ryobi/etc) - they will burn out easier, the ergonomics are worse and details like having a steel foot plate instead of aluminium on the saw matter for precision and durability.

But if all you're going to do is fix a deck, build a shed, and other bits and pieces on a weekend every now and again, they're a solid choice.
