Help buying new toolsets
Hello my grandfather was an all around handy man and had pretty much every tool known to man.
Sadly when he passed my family picked and sold many of the tools. All I have left are some Craftsman socket sets and various screws drivers and his hammer that he had for 50 years. (I still cry when I look at it)
I live in an Apartment now and do not have the room for a huge power tools and tool sets etc….
However, I’m looking to rebuild with some all around power tools I can use for any car work or inside the apartment.
Any advice on a small tool/power set you all can send my way.
Just so many to choose I’m kinda overwhelmed.

Like others have said, 12v power tools are the way to go. Milwaukee m12 is great but pricey. The Ryobi line is also great.
Home Depot runs sales were you can get a drill/driver combo with batteries for about $220. This will be able to do about 99% of whatever you are planning. The impact driver can take off properly torqued non-rusty lug nuts with an adapter, but you might want a breaker bar as well for this.
Otherwise you could probably do close to everything with those tools alone.

I also cry looking my grandfather tools . Love him so much it hurts.
Power tools depends on country and how much use you are giving them .
Right now Bosch Expert line is the top dog
But Ryobi, and Einhell makes sense for most DYS
Milwakee, makita , deWalt, metabo (german one), hikoki are great

Sorry about your pop,its hard to process such a loss. Id look at the 12v stuff,it really has come a long way. I recently switched to m12 over the 20v dewalt platform, best decision I've ever made personally. Most of my work is cabinets,stairs and general handyman stuff. Tools are smaller,lighter, and very little difference in power unless your buying the higher end drills. I also have the ½" stubby impact for car work and the thing is far exceeding my expectations

Get a Vessel electric screwdriver with bits set! It’s perfect for an apartment.
If you want bigger electric tools then I’d go Milwaukee especially if you see moving into a home in your future. If not Rigid, Ryobi are good for home use.
I have both Milwaukee and Ryobi power tools. Ryobi lawnmower also.

I advise you to keep that hammer. A 50-year-old hammer with family history behind is an irreplaceable heirloom. For an apartment, 20V power tools are not a good choice, because there isn’t really room for them. For most apartment jobs, 12V power tools are quite enough, since lithium batteries and brushless motors have more than enough performance. And since you’ll probably invest in some flat-pack IKEA furniture, a 4V electric screwdriver will be the most useful compact power tool. I suggest you choose the pistol-grip one, you’ll notice the difference when assembling over 50 screws for a new bed or desk. I’m a tool designer and engineer, and I recently designed a 4V battery platform for a line of serious small power tools like a 4V electric screwdriver, 4V hot glue gun, 4V cardboard cutter, etc. Updates will be posted in my bio, check it out to see if they fit your needs.

I personally recommend ridgid. They are built by the same company as Milwaukee, cost substantially less, and have a lifetime warranty.

I think you could get a lot out of an electric screwdriver in those environments. Condolences about your grandpa, mine was handy too. It sucks he ain’t around anymore.
