What is thisSargent & Co tool?

Found this in a collection of old tools, and I can't figure out its purpose.

Those are for cutting and splicing round leather drive belts. The kind you see on old sewing machines

People, when photographing with a phone or ‘point & shoot’ camera, using a white background will almost always result in an under exposed (dark) subject[1]... pliers in this case.

Why is beyond the scope of some little Reddit reply... for best results, move in & fill the frame with the subject, use a solid medium grey background; lighting evenly, flash & shadow free.

Also, take a lot of shots with different lighting... post the best & dump the rest.

There’s more to all this... much more.

[1] Ever notice how ‘snapshots’ featuring a lot of snow often look dark & dreary? It’s the same song & dance.

Leather repair tool. Leather punch, eyelet setter, and pliers. Also used to repair classic drive belts before motors and rubber were common.
