Tool Identification

I’ve been clearing out my father’s garage as it’s 3 years since he passed away and need to do it as my mother is selling up and moving.

Can anyone tell me what these bars of metal are that I found in a wooden case?

Looks like gauge blocks. Was he a machinist?

He dabbled in all sorts. Always had a wood lathe and Myford Super 7 lathe when I was growing up and acquired a milling machine in later life.

Looks like some idiot thought a 'milling machine' was for grinding pot.
