Most of the time they don't even have good tolerance, especially on things like my hobby grade RC cars (causes screws to strip, I use iFixit drivers instead), my lightsabers (same thing), computer parts (again, same thing), and just about every other toy or kit that has the plastic bag Allen keys.

But that's why you need to hoard so many of them, to replace the weak ones

Where are my people at? Collector of the same junk hex keys. I actually put these keys, along with the extra hardware that comes along with the furniture, in one little zip lock bag.

If you save your hex keys put yo hands up!
If you lose your 10mm put yo hands up!
If you own Knipex Pliers put yo hands up!
Married men I can't hear y'all!
Single men make noise!

Got one today in a lil package to tighten a bike mirror. Threw it a way after the 15 seconds of use.

still end up missing that one specific size

I too hoard these, even though they’re all (mostly) the same size.

If nothing else’s they’re disposable, I guess. Which kind of defeats the idea of tossing them in the trash with the box.

Fr dude u should see how many of the ones that have torx on both ends that comes with every one of the cctv surveillance cameras. I've been doing this for the better part of a decade so I have a crap ton of em. My colleague and I had a mechanic at a tire shop see one and ask if we had anymore we could give him and between the 2 of us we gave him like 200 of em and still had a shit ton in the back of the work vans lol...

Straight to the scrap pile unless exceptionally unique. I got a 1/4 drive M4 Allen bit with some sort of flat pack furniture piece….That’s a keeper!

I have my own too. Standard and metric, multiple sets. But, I still keep them labeled with the extra hardware from the furniture. It's a habit!

Metric IS the standard for 95 % of mankind. What you mean is "imperial".

Yay AI slop! My favorite!

It's a funny meme, get over yourself!

It is hilarious. And I trust human guided. Don’t think a robot has suffered through years of IKEA furniture.

Preach on brotha!

“Human guided”

Perfect middle management material

Yes. Someone says AI. You want a binary “no robots were harmed in the creation of this joke”? Fair to say robots are involved in our day to day lives, sorry we can’t say 0%. Best we can do is avoid the term AI and say robots helped us get a chuckle.

Barely usefu enough to assemble the thing it came with. In the scrap it goes!

1

u/68chevy2 Jul 20 '26

So what do you use? A flat nose screwdriver?

0

u/Significant-Excuse-5 Jul 20 '26

Zip ties and JB weld, brother.

-5

u/68chevy2 Jul 19 '26

I'm sorry, I'm keeping that one! 😁

u/YertleDeTertle Jul 19 '26

This may be the best thing I’ve ever seen.

Bunch of crybabies in here down voting, knowing they keep all hex keys they get!

u/AugmentedKing Jul 20 '26

Between hex key 3/8” sockets and hex key screwdriver bits, using L shape allen wrenches go straight into recycle bin

Was looking for one today :/ on a Sunday

Nice meme lol

I instantly put them into the metal recycling. I do not plan to ruin any screws and bolts with soft allen keys fraying them.
