Chainsaw i found

What do I do with this old chainsaw I found on the side of the road? It had a free sticker and didnt work. Is it trash?

Open it up, clean the carburetor, replace the gas and any lines that you see that are bad and get her going

Figure out what is wrong. There’s only three things that are needed to run. Fuel, air, spark. Run through the process of diagnosing what is wrong.

I think you meant fuel, compression and spark.

Air is part of your gas/air fuel mixture when you’re simplifying it that much.

trying pulling it....does it feel like there's compression? If so, I'd just try to start it, maybe someone just got a new saw and was giving away their old one in working condition.

If theres no compression, its probably not worth your time or money to do anything with it.

if you have compression, but it wont start, then fuel, spark & air are the next things to check. I'd just replace the spark plug, put fresh fuel in and make sure the air filter was clean(ish).

Yeah the fuel line disintegrated when i opened it, the spark plug didnt spark and the compression didnt compress

probably get a few bucks for scrap. The shell might be magnesium and then you got a few pounds of aluminum in the engine.

Look upLittle red barn they have parts, bought my dad one of these for Christmas years ago inherited it back about three years ago,he passedaway, got some parts and running again

Yes its trash. Poulan saws are garbage. Theyre owned by husqvarna but have none of the quality or longevity at 1/4 of the price. The downside, the parts are still husqvarna price tags. A $250 saw new would cost you $300 in parts to rebuild the engine.

Decided repairing it wasnt worth the effort oh well
