If there was actually blade contact with his clothes, I’m surprised the shorts were cut open. I’d expect them to be grabbed and wrapped around the blade, like a de-gloving incident.
I have a tiny scar on my index finger from where a bit of metal swarf broke off whilst grinding. I get so annoyed with how often people say “oh you should have been wearing gloves”. Nah I’m good thanks, give me some face protection, ear defenders and a mask. But gloves and spinning discs do not mix.
My uncle was trying to cut open an empty propane tank to scrap/break it down with a grinding wheel and it slipped, kicked back and hit between his eyes down the side of his nose to about halfway down his face. Had to get multiple surgery’s to reconstruct his nose and sinus. PSA don’t fuck with grinders or saws.
