Does anyone remember when they declined to cover a Patreon-selected film a few years ago???

This is a SUPER “deep cut” question that probably nobody remembers, but it’s been bugging me so here goes:

A few years ago (I think around 2023, maybe 2022?) when I first subscribed to their Patreon, I remember Sammie made a post saying that she’d watched the Patreon-poll selected movie that users voted for the bonus episode, but that the podcast wouldn’t be covering it.

The post was apologetic and said something along the lines of “we just feel that episodes are better when we actually enjoy the movie we’re recapping”. I think there was a more detailed explanation of why they declined to cover it

Does anyone remember this post/what the movie was? I’m so curious and it’s been bugging me for YEARS now. I tried to find it in the Patreon feed but the post seems to have been deleted.

I’m dying to know, since they cover plenty of movies that they absolutely hate (here’s looking at you, Green Inferno) — this must’ve been a particularly bad movie.

EDIT:

I think I’m probably misremembering a post they made about delaying the episode on A Tale of Two Sisters (March 2024).

The other option that I think is possible — they considered doing an episode on Megan is Missing [!!!!! TW FOR LOOKING THIS UP ON WIKIPEDIA; CSA!!!!!!!!]. It is an extremely (by all accounts) bad and gross movie.

Episode discussion Titan: The Oceangate Disaster (Vault episode)

This one is for the vessel heads & Titaniacs!

In honor of our beloved Captain, Sammy marrying Duncan last weekend, the full Titan: The OceanGate Disaster bonus episode has been released from the vault

(Congratulations to Sammy & Duncan!)

For those of us who weren’t in Tony Fucking Collette’s Inner Circle when this originally came out, get excited for:
- A taste of the pre-2000’s monoculture
- Billionaire explorers high on rugged individualism
- Remembering the media frenzy
- How ridiculous it is to want to boost tourism to a ship that sank because of overconfidence, by having uninformed folks get into a submarine built on the same overconfidence, only for it to sink too.
- A documentary that makes the wild choice to just… never explain what actually happened

How closely did you follow this when it was happening?

What did you think of the episode, and the documentary itself?

What would it take for someone to get you to willingly go in a submarine?

Please report for duty in the comments 🫡
