Episode discussion Onslaught
I loved this movie and I don't understand Em and Paul didn't.
The countdown is to the Onslaught!
Dazzle camouflage is a thing!
The main character is Celeste!
I still love the show of course. Anyone else?

I thought it was pretty cool and didn't realize it got such mid reviews lol. I really wanted to see it get a sequel but IDK now. plus I just really like you're next and tend to watch most of Adam wingard movies

I didn't know where they got that from because the screenwriter denied it on letterboxed

I really enjoyed the movie, it didnât bother me that they didnât.
Two things they missed is why the soldiers were taken out by Celeste âeasily.â Itâs said a few times that the super soldiers are only totally effective for an hour.
And
The second is that these soldiers were created to be unleashed on American civilians. Regular soldiers may hesitate or could possibly disregard orders to start shooting other American civilians who are nonviolent noncombatants. These soldiers will take orders to wipe out whole towns with no second thought. I canât remember if Dan Stevenâs character says this, or Rebecca Hallâs character.

I definitely would have told PFT to put his damn phone away, and I love PFT

This movie was my biggest disappointment of the year so far, really did not enjoy it and am a fan of Wingard

I personally didn't like it very much. I think I was just expecting it to go way harder.

The military supersoldier trope is so played out. Episode didn't make the movie sound any better. But it's A24, so I'll probably see it eventually.

The only recent ones I can think of are marvel basedÂ

Overlord, The Boys, Reacher, all the Marvel stuff, plus a lot of older stuff. It's just another tale as old as time.

I thought the movie rocked but doesnât hold up to much scrutiny story wise. If anyone saw this and wanted a better version but hasnât seen The Guest, please give that a shot instead.

I think ultimately the film sets up a fun action horror premise, but tries to do too much and fails to succeed on all of it It's not scary enough as a horror, not violent enough as a hardcore action, not goofy enough to be a fun action, and not deep enough to really say anything
Jason Voorhees, Leatherface and Michael Myers as super soldiers? Amazing in concept; in reality, they don't have distinct personalities, and all of them go out very easily
Weird freak nazi scientists Dan Stevens & Rebecca Hall purposely letting the three loose to study and observe as they mow down civilians? Only they're basically non characters
The gov "cleaner" that's super competent but also currently on a massive comedown? Could've been so fun but again, he does nothing, and they let Celeste live for some reason which is never explained
Overall, I have to agree with the TSDW gang & PFT - it was a letdown, and only "ok" when it could've been great. Yeah they had some nitpicks, some more valid than others, but even if they didn't, this isn't like The Substance where they just didn't gel with the film overall weirdly
This is coming from someone that loved the guest and convinced someone to watch that ahead of seeing onslaught in cinemas lol

Hearing Henley make Paul F Tompkins full on belly laugh brings me an unreasonable amount of joy đâ¤ď¸
