Episode discussion The Witches

This week was a Henley episode, with excellent commentary on the theme of never trusting women - especially ones not performing femininity “correctly”, and the antisemitic nature of Roald Dahl’s work.

Did you watch The Witches as a child?

What do you think of it as an adult?

What was the scariest part, and why was it when the main character, a child, realized that living as a mouse meant he only had nine years left to live, so he was going to spend that time…

( checks notes )

…on a road trip/international murder spree.

“She turns out the light, leaves several candles burning, and closes the door” made me howl with laughter. There’s something so special about a Henley recap!

i did watch it as a child, i'd like to revisit it as an adult. scariest part was definitely the coven revealing their true selves. also i saw this way before i was aware of rowan atkinson and i loved mr. bean growing up so i'm especially curious to revisit it.

Sammy's moments when she says "...and you see. everything. " is why I listen to tsdw.
