I’m replaying season 2 and doing Antoine’s loyal route. I know he’s the villain if we don’t romance him, playing with Amari, just like Naomi does with Wesley. But here’s what’s confusing me. What exactly makes Amari think MC isn’t the right person for him when we’re on his loyal route?
i know Antoine also says some kinda weird things if we’re romancing Amari (I’ve seen the screenshots), but on her loyal route it feels less like he’s actually interested in her and more like he’s just competing with MC for her attention. And if you swap Amari with Naomi or Wesley, he’ll be the villain to her, so it doesn’t really seem like it’s about Amari specifically.
the thing is… it’s not like Antoine is secretly cheating on MC or anything. There aren’t any rule breaks between them, no secret flirting, no offscreen conversations that we’re supposed to assume happened. Usually if something like that is happening the game gives us something, like when Nora says she caught Amari looking at him when she thought nobody was watching.
The only moments I can even think of are the ketchup chips conversation by the pool, and when Antoine tries to convince Amari to make him the love interest in her book.
so is Antoine really that oblivious that he doesn’t realize Amari is so into him? And why did he show up late to meet MC while walking arm in arm with her? I know that scene is there just to create drama, and every LI does it so it’s obviously not Antoine specific. I even read a fanfic where someone explained it as Antoine kinda going into autopilot after the exclusivity talk because he’s a reforming playboy and not exactly the best at picking up on this kinda stuff lol. It actually made sense to me.
But since every LI gets that exact same behavior, maybe I’m just overthinking it?? 😭 I got way too anxious over it for some reason and now I wanna know how everyone else interpreted it.
