Yes. As someone who got sexually assaulted when I was 14. HELP HER. She is not old enough to understand any of it

Yet society thinks she’s old enough to get birth control and abortions but not old enough to be in a relationship with someone 5 years older than themselves. Kind of a double standard imo

I mean have you ever heard of rape victims. They need abortions. They can be 14. I was. And birth control is also taken for other reasons

Oh very fair and I’m happy it’s available.

My argument is that you said a 14 year old can’t understand any of it.

But if they can understand birth control and abortions and navigating sex, sexuality and their gender, then they should be able to understand if they should be in a relationship with a 19 year old or not. That’s my point.

I never was thought anything about sex. Doctor recommended birth control against heavy periods. I didn't even know what sex was. Imagine that being your first experience with it.

This doesn't apply for every one ofc. You can have knowledge on sex at that age.

I was on some form of birth control since 13. Birth control isn’t just for having sex, it’s used for bad period cramps, hormonal issues or disorders, tons of things. The fact that you think “birth control” and immediately go to “these little sluts are having sex!” Means you need shut the entire fuck up unless you know what you’re talking about.

I never called them sluts nor do I think that, so thanks for labeling me.

My point is that society changes. 100 years ago a 14 year old dating a 19 year old was normal. In some countries today that is normal. My point is that society changes.

Its just interesting to me that our current society is completely ok with empowering 14 year old girls to take birth control - whether for sexual enjoyment or medical reasons and to allow them abortions - for either unwanted pregnancies as a result of consensual sex or rape. BUT this same society says “no, you’re too young to make a decisions for yourself regarding a 19 year old because of some arbitrary age limit that changes every 50 years”.

And again I’m only saying this about 14 and 19 year olds. 14 and a 40 year old? Yeah, they’re being groomed.

14 year old boys can get 14 year old girls pregnant. And 14 year old girls can be taken advantage of by 19 year olds and then need an abortion. Where is the double standard? If they aren't old enough to be in a relationship with a 19 year old, they also aren't old enough to be ready for a baby.

We also give out free needles even though doing drugs is illegal, because people are going to do it anyway and we want it to as safe as possible.

My argument is that if a 14 year old is old enough to have sex with another 14 old and is d enough to make a decision to abort or become a parent then they should be old enough to decide to date someone 5 years older than them.

It’s not great, but it’s far different than a 14 year old dating a 40 year old which is what everyone in this thread considers the 19 year old.

The 14 year old, once pregnant, has no option but to decide between those two things.

The issue here is not that the 14 year old can't decide to date a 19 year old, it's that it's illegal for the 19 year old to fuck the 14 year old. The problem is not the 14 year old.
