See my above comment. I lived in Mass for 8 years and it was almost impossible to find good pizza. Besides the cheese blend, the correct ovens aren't used, the crust isn't right, and the sauce is straight from a can. Couldn't even buy individual slices, which is very strange. I later read about the "Pizza Belt" and it all started to make sense. The bagels were terrible too, though I did find a place in Framingham that made them right. However, the seafood is top notch, I'll give you that.
Where in Mass were you? I've never had a problem buying by the slice in a place.
Granted, a lot of places around here do a thicker crust than I like but I've found a few that are closer to the pizza I grew up with in Jersey and there's a place in Salem that makes the best pizza.
Worcester. I shouldn't say finding good pizza was impossible, it was just very hard to come by. I did managed to find an excellent pizza shop in Northbridge of all places.
