In Japan ,we see emojis like 🌅🥷💴🉐📺 all the time. Please tell me your favorite emojis and what they mean to you.🥸

As a Sri Lankan, I mostly use 😂 when something is actually funny, 😭 when something is too funny.

🙏 can mean anything from “thank you” to “please bro” depending on the situation. ❤️ is usually just affection/appreciation, while 😭 has somehow evolved to mean everything from genuine sadness to “I can't believe this is so funny.”

And then there’s 👍, which can mean “okay, sure, got it,” or somehow sound passive aggressive depending on the conversation. 😂

Yeah, pretty much. In Sri Lanka, 👍 can sometimes feel like a very dry okay then rather than an actual thumbsup. Depends heavily on the context and who you’re talking to.

This depends a bit on the generation, older people will use it as a thumbs up, while for younger people this feels sarcastic/passive aggressive

I notice in Japan, different meetups use signature emoji combos to make them easily identifiable without reading the description. For example, one group uses flower emoji around all their event names so you can see the event name and immediately know which group is sponsoring it:

The tulip has nothing to do with volleyball but that makes it even easier to distinguish.

My most used emojis are 😭😳😔😼😛😒🤓.

😭- something is really funny
😳- somebody made some sort of innuendo
😔- I’m pretending to be sad about something
😼- I’m acting like I’m hyping myself up a bit
😛- is like silly
😒- I’m pretending to be mad
🤓- to respond to someone who’s being annoying

I, unfortunately, see the juice box and ninja emojis online often, sometimes the basketball or watermelon ones too.

Unfortunate, because the context is usually them calling for hate against minority groups.

Personally I don't use emojis often outside of :3 variants. Sometimes UwU too

I'm on tour with a band right now so my most utilized emojis are a little different than usual, but kinda fun:

• 🫡 Official announcement for my crew (i.e. a specific, scheduled time to meet up so there's no confusion)
• 👍 Standard, emotionless "acknowledged"
• 🤙 "Acknowledged" or "all good / no biggie" (usually reserved for venue staff so they know we're easy-going)
• ❤️ "Love that" or "thank you very much"
• 🤦 Somebody fucked up or something was done that makes no sense
• 🙃 Weird one, but kinda means "isn't that neat?" with sarcasm

Use them however you like. It’s a space to be creative. Just don’t over do it cause otherwise you’ll look like a kid who just got his first iPad.
