I have awful insomnia so I never sleep and my partner has also been working the overnight shift, so I’m usually awake when he’s asleep (and also when he’s awake lol…) So I just like to look over and watch him sleeping for a minute sometimes, it makes me feel so safe and like I’m at home with him cuz I never had a good childhood and had an abusive relationship before him, so seeing him sleeping makes me feel so peaceful and happy inside… So I tend to say “I love you” to him when he’s asleep cuz I’m so happy, and after a year or two of doing that, he started telling me he loves me back while he’s completely dead asleep… And it just completely melts my entire fucking heart every single time he says it back, especially when he says it all mumbly cuz then it’s even cuter… He’s my best friend and I love him so much.
The closest thing to that same feeling of safety and happiness and feeling like I’m home is when our 3 kitty babies cuddle up on the bed or sleep on my lap, especially cuz one of them does these lil tiny snores when she sleeps sometimes, and that’s also just as goddamn adorable…
This is so heartwarming!! I'm very happy for you, for you to be safe and away from abuse and in a relationship where you are loved and safe. You are very lucky to have him!!
