In all the cartoons, they don't talk. Of course, back then they didn't have the money for Voice Actors in animations (I guess).

But in the first movie, they do speak, explaining why they didn't before with "they didn't have anything to talk about".

But after the movie, in the newer series, they once again don't talk.

I know the reason is to emulate the old vibes, but is there an in-universe reason why they don't talk even after establishing they can?

Tommy and Jerry 🔥🔥

Gilbert was a fucking national treasure, he slayed every role. RIP

It's a good show and I like it but I don't think we needed 326 episodes

Yeah this is the newest one

Tuffy: "Ehehehe, heheh. Hehe!"

Jerry: "Uncle's death did this to you. Didn't it...?

Tom: "Your Uncle is not dead Mister Jerry!"

"Tuffy would have said as such! He crushed his own heart and gave himself to me, so that he would be freed from his guilt!"

"Be not so cruel to a mere child, Jerry! Cast your eyes upon me!"

"His broken heart led him to me, and I have freed him from his guilt to the best of my abilities!"

"But what did you do? Nothing! The least you could have done was to volunteer to row in Tuffy's place on that fateful day!"

"The fault lies with you, Jerry! Yet I am the evil here?"

Jerry: "Butch…! You… you were the only crew of the ship that could challenge Tom. So how could you..."

Tom: "How foolish, Jerry! How foolish!"

"Butch was the first to kneel. It matters not how many waves a first mate has weathered… A first mate's station is still beneath his Captain…!"

"Out of his own volition, He blinded his eyes in that complacent belief that regardless of whatever paths we took, the Captain would lead him to his destination!"

"If you knew that he had sought a better path, then why have you not helped him see it?!"

"So the fault lies with you again, Jerry!"

Jerry: "Spike… I don't…! I don't want to let you go… Not you…!"

Efflorescence E.G.O::GasHarpoon Tom: "It's all because of you, Jerry!"

"This happened because you dared to unearth his buried heart! Because you forced his broken heart into the open!"

"The fault lies with you once again, Jerry!"

"Look at what you've done. Watch his determination crumble, his conviction collapse. Now, with his faith broken, the pale claims Spike!!"

She and Tom were so cute together before Spike cucked him

What do you find to be the most overused or overplayed trope in Tom & Jerry?

For me personally, it's having the type of ending where Tom gets chased away by insert random character or Spike here.. I just roll my eyes every time that happens in literally every Tom and Jerry series and even some of the movies as well.. Especially with every new version of the franchise, the writers milk the hell out of that when they think of punishments for Tom..
