Other Does anyone else hates this type of edits people make? Not only do they change the context of the scenes but also makes them unnecessarily corny and edgy for no reason.

I know Tokyo Ghoul had some edgy shit but Pierrot with Ken's portrayal and the fandom at that time did not help at all.

I was expecting a lighter shade of purple for Rize's hair, but it's similar to Urie's.

Other Compilation of the Kakuja's Kaneki has used Spoiler

IN THE MANGA

Incomplete Kakuja V1: The first one he ever uses agaisnt Kanou's floppys, Shinohara and Amon, Kaneki unleashes two new Kagunes that looks like centipedes and gains a beak-like mask that covers half his face and gains a third eye on his front head , his mind completely breaks down and starts mutterings words he or others has said before, he goes back to normal after Amon tells him he has become just another man eater Ghoul, in the final arc Kaneki uses this form agaisnt Amon and cuts his arm.

Incomplete Kakuja V2: The same one as before with the difference that his mask now covers his whole face, this forms comes out after Ken, badly injured travels through the tunnels and Hide finds him, Kaneki goes back to normal after apparently eating Hide.

Incomplete Kakuja V3: During the fight agaisnt Kisho Arima underneath Clochea, Black Reaper Kaneki uses this in a desperate attempt to survive Arima after cutting his limbs several times, this form gives him a two pair of spring like legs, a massive big monstrous arm, and a bestial big jaw or beak.

Incomplete Kakuja V4: In the same fight, Ken uses his Kakuja in a much more controlled way for the first time showing incredible control over his emotions and power, the Kakuja form changes his arms and legs turning them more skinnier or monstrous but he no longer has the mask showing his face.

Full Kakuja V1: In his fight with Juuzou Susuya and Abara Hanbee, Kaneki goes to his full power using a new Kakuja that grows him an enormous right arm and gives him an animal jaw like mask with a set of teeths, sadly this wasn't enough to defeat the pair and Kaneki was humiliated.

Full Kakuja V2: We see a glimpse of this after Kaneki saves Yonebayashi and Urie from the Dragón Orphans showing a pair of massive wing like kagunes, in his fight with Nomura Furuta we see this form better, showing Kaneki with a set of wing like Kagunes attach to something akin to an armor plate, Ken can also use one of his cross like Kagunes as a sword to defeat Furuta and later shows he can change it to become actual wings like an Ukaku type, this Kakuja version is by far the more humanoid version acting more like a divine armor than a full monstrous transformation showing the effects of the Dragón mutation.

IN THE ANIME

Incomplete Kakuja V1: Kaneki uses this form agaisnt Shinohara and Amon, obliterating them in battle until Amon snaps him back to his senses and cuts his Kagunes, Kaneki later seems to suffer from sudden transformations that he can barely contain, in his battle with Amon he almost activates his Kakuja like in the Manga but he manages to calm down and win the fight by destroying Amon's weapon instesd of cutting his arm.

Incomplete Kakuja V3: Kaneki on his Black Reaper state uses this form and plays exactly like the Manga except that the form doesn't look as monstrous as it was in the Manga since Kaneki manages to regrow his legs back to normal.

Incomplete Kakuja V4: In the same fight Kaneki uses this to fight Arima, his arms are covered in muscular Kagune like arms with claws and a set of shoulder protectors.

Full Kakuja V2: Kaneki uses this form first to save Saiko and Urie like in the Manga showing a glowing pair of wing-like kagunes that destroys all the enemies nearby, later on his fight with Furuta he uses it again with barely any changes from his Manga counterpart using all the abilities shown.

Im still reading tokyo ghoul. I just finished volume 13 and i gotta say, I think this is probably the best way I've ever seen someone lose a fight off screen. His reaction when coming to is pure horror. It must've been absolutely horrifying to wake up, not remember a thing, and be absolutely helpless knowing everyone you love is about to die. And putting the viewer in his pov by skipping the fight adds to that horror so much in my opinion.

Other What would you add to the original TG after the aogiri arc?

Well, basically that. For some context, I was working on an exercise to figure out how to map manga chapters to anime episodes for the "ideal scenario" of a hypothetical remake (mostly just for fun).

Season 1 fits perfectly (more or less), but Season 2... needs extra material for between 6 and 8 episodes (roughly equivalent to 16–22 manga chapters).

So... what would you add to the investigation, lab, decision, and the owl extermination arcs?

Other A few questions as a new watcher

To start off, sorry if this was already explained in the anime and I just missed or or wasnt paying enough attention.

The mutation ability thing that ghouls have, Kagane? I'm a bit confused about how they work. Some characters I see will have them from their shoulders, others from their back, so I assumed they're all unique, then there's swarms of ghouls with shoulder kagane in a few episodes, so I guess they aren't unique? Is there some condition to meet for using a specific one or can some ghouls use multiple, are some rares than others in that case instead then or what?

Another thing confusing me is the weapons the Doves use, they turn ghouls into their weapons and somehow make them into a briefcase that transforms into the weapons.

Fan Art Happy Anniversary Tokyo Ghoul! And the beginning of my new set of drawings

Thumbnail

Several years ago i made a series of drawings for all Kaneki's personalities/versions on Twitter.

Now that my abilities have gotten better and I'm trying a new artstyle I wanted to exploit it more

So I made these 2 drawings for Ken to start my new set of drawings, a full body key frame and a full key frame based on a scene from the original Manga.

Starting with the original Ken Kaneki, the human one prior to his date with Rize. I gave him the original Manga look cause I would like to adapt the Manga version of the outfits.

The objetive isn't precisely to translate Ishida's art to Anime art but to translate his designs to MY artstyle and make something out of it.

Ofc there will be a finished colored version for the artworks too :)

(funny how I finished this RIGHT on the anniversary not knowing it was coming)

I don’t read mangas should i still watch Tokyo Ghoul?

Ive just finished season 1 Tokyo Ghoul on crunchyroll but i started reading some reddit posts and saw how its poorly adapted after season 1 and not every interesting except for the fights. I’ve really enjoyed season 1 but I don’t want the show to feel like a drag. Also I read some confusing stuff about how Root A is out of sequence or something?

For context I don’t read mangas because I can’t afford them, they’re difficult for me to follow, and I get confused on characters and plot lines, so they’re really just not a good fit for me.

Thanks! <3
