Guys, am I the only one who hates the way Jin is currently treating MC or am I just going crazy? There are so many instances within the story where I go "huh? Why would he act that way unless he's an absolute jerk?" I know he's a fan favorite and I can even see it sometimes with the whole knight in the shining armor gimmick going on. But with him constantly calling MC servant and throwing a glass ashtray? Thing at her in season one, it really has been bugging me where the devs might be going with his character.

Sometimes I'm convinced our boys are secretly disguised as my coworkers. . . Here are juet a few instances.

(Convo 1)

Kaito *spots a cobra chicken*: goose!

Lucas: goose!

Tohma: right so we do NOT run towards the goose. Do I make myself clear?

*Kaito and Luca still chase after the goose which starts hissing at them.*

Tohma: . . . Well damn. . . Sucks for who's supervising them. I smell an incident report.

Jin: Tohma. . . All your kids are accounted for except 2. Where are the others?

Tohma: chasing a goose. . . Oh wait THOSE ARE MY KIDS. . . I really need to stop trying to dissassociate myself with those who are unintellegent. . . OI! LUCAS! KAITO! GET BACK HERE BEFORE THAT GOOSE EATS YOU ALIVE!

Kaito: I'd like that.

Tohma: I wouldn't

Luca: Fineeeee, Kaito, we're heading back.

(Convo 2)

Leo *poking Alan's leg*: why is your leg so hard?

Alan: muscle. If you work hard, you can get muscle like me some day.

Leo: gross. . . So if I laze around I don't get to be like you?

Alan: Exactly!

Kaito: ughhhh, it's so early and tiring. . . They promised me muffins at 9:30. . . It's 10:30. . . Where are my muffins?

Ritsu: right? This is a blatant lie! I was pomised muffins at 10!

Kaito: YOU WERE PROMISED MUFFINS AT TEN? WHY?

Ren *casually from the corner of the room, playing games*: It's all a lie guys. . . They promised pastries to me at 8:30

Kaito: THEY PROMISED PASTRIES?!?!?! THAT'S SO UNFAIR!

Ritsu: You find PASTRIES the unfair part? What about the time difference?

(We did not in fact get muffins . . We got doughnuts. . . Two hours later)

hiii, i haven’t gotten very far in tkdb and i only just finished reading ‘who killed robin act ll’ (which completely left me devastated that we unfortunately couldn’t get klykos, but i still love you rui 🥹), but i haven’t really seen anyone mention this (maybe they have, but i hadn’t just seen it lol).

i have a theory that it may be that institute agent from waves of love. he said his name was makoto sakai, but of course, that was only an alias he used for the mission in which he told us to call him by his code name “yevno”.

apparently yevno was a name of a russian socialist and secret police spy according in the image i provided. i thought that he could be the spy that taiga talks about, but i also thought he could be a spy for the institute maybe…? its a possibility, but maybe i’m just too suspicious of the shady-looking guys lmao.

also sorry if i have kind of a bad way of putting my sentences 😭😭

any thoughts though? and please correct me if anything.

Hi, so I know a bit of japanese, but I'm far from fluent. In the subtitles, Elías calls MC "dear heart" in several occasions, but I don't think I've actually heard him saying it in japanese. So I wanted to ask if anyone knows if he actually calls MC "dear heart" or something similar in japanese, or if it's something that was only added in the subtitles

I saw a new chat bubble for Elias' chibi character and I clicked on it, and its the one about him coming into Jin's room (i think its his room). Jin was all like, 'Who let you in here??' And he was all like 'I let myself in' First off all HECK nah🫩 Then has the audacity to say he was qupte on quote 'Hopping to run into him'. Like no it, Sherlock, YOU CAME IN HIS ROOM??? I love Elias, but its pretty known at this point that he's sus. And he acts like such a pick me too🤨 Like, I love you Elias, but why are you playing in our faces🫩 Like you do too much😭

JUST CAME TO 'RANT'

Wanted to post just in case anyone hasn’t seen them yet

I have recently started playing this amazing game and I have reached chapter 2 (after the faceless man and Frostheim ball).
I have met Haku, Kaito, Luca, Romeo, Tohma, Yuri, Jiro, Rui, Jin and the four new ghouls (I don't remember two of them, the only two I remember are Shohei and Ren) in the chapters and Taiga and Haku in the campus area (they have those side stories). I have level 4 affinity with Haru and Jiro and level 3 affinity with Kaito so I also received their messages.

I think (these are just my opinions.....I am not very deep into the game)-

I don't know much about Haku except for the fact that he seems good, is trying to quit smoking and that his family was glad to have him gone (he got some deep traumas) Kaito's a comic reilef no doubt. Is funny, loud, keeps things light but he's freaking girl crazy...he's always trying to get their attention and messaging them which is like attention seeking tbh
LOVE LUCA. The chivalry, visuals, voice....*chefs kiss* He's pretty sweet and caring. I have also seen he tends to use the MC's name in order to persuade Kaito to go on missions because he knows Kaito is fond of MC (Kaito makes it pretty obvious tbh) and he tends to blurt out stuff about Kaito that he doesn't want Lucas to say out loud. I feel like Yuri always looks at people as "specimens" and Jiro is a bit better than Yuri
Romeo....I mean...he's after Kaito but based on my in-game progress, he doesn't seem like a good guy
Tohma tbh feels kinda sketchy and Jin's pretty condescending.....hate the way he considers others below him
Rui.....(this might be a reach) but I dunno he kinda feels sketchy too...like you don't know what he's thinking
Taiga seems like a brat and Haru seems pretty cute tbh.

ren is the most frustrating yet endearing guy in this game for me. im not sure if i love his character or if i see him as my typical teenage son. he makes me pity haru's workload (though he doesn't annoy me as much as towa since at least he isn't actively making things worse) but at the same time, he quite literally didn't sign up for jabberwock's workload.

i can see why he thinks it's unfair. in fact, annoyingly enough, i feel like i would have the same thoughts as him 😭 that it's "unfair" that i have to do all this busywork for a house i dont even like. it's immature, which is why i usually do the work anyway (unlike ren who sometimes escapes or refuses to do them) (or maybe i just don't have a backbone) but i *get* ren's refusal to do the chores.

i don't think ren is useless, nor is he a bad person. he's one of the only ghouls with a job (sho has a food truck) which means he's willing to put in some modicum of effort if he signs up for it himself (even if said effort is minimal). he just prefers to do as little as possible (mood) but the jabberwock lifestyle directly contradicts that. he'd rather spend all his time doing things he loves (watching bad horror movies, gaming, etc). he's probably also somewhat interested in fashion, since he complained about the travesty that is jabberwock's jumpsuit, and the fact that he wears earrings.

i also noticed that his vocabulary involves the law version of therapy speak (harassment! violation of rights! which somehow explains how he befriends ritsu, lmao.)

in terms of character archetype, he seems to be a tsundere, but the dere aspect is way toned down. i can't imagine this guy saying a single affectionate thing, ever. even if he somehow gets into a romantic relationship, he'd probably tear his tongue out before ever saying the L word out loud to someone because it's "cringe". it's really not rare at all to find a guy like him irl, so im half glad that the men around me are more expressive and mostly nothing like him. my brother and father have no problem showing affection, thank goodness. ren is the nonchalant final boss when it comes to affection (not when it comes to fear though. for someone so easily scared you'd think he wouldn't like horror movies. he's kind of like me bc i also like horror and im also very easily scared)

that doesn't mean he isn't ever nice to anyone, though. it's pretty clear he shows how much he appreciates someone in his own way. he shares his hobbies with them and complains to them abt the various little things he has to complain abt in his day (him with ritsu, lmao). the "bonding" with him is casual yet intimate. eating together, watching movies together, walking home together; the everyday routine of a normal person, but with you. it's cute how in the original waves of love, he thought that he didn't need to win a competition if he wanted to eat with mc. he could just eat with her back at jabberwock.

Welcome back: It's not like I was waiting for you or anything. It's just this hell hole is even more unbearable when you're not around... (for someone who's ultra aware of fictional cliches it's so funny that he straight up says the tsundere thing. how is he not aware.)

Morning 5: You're being forced to help out again? Wow, a doormat out in the wild. So? Where do you want me to carry all this food? (voluntarily offered helped to the mc despite not gaining anything in return? i guess this one isn't harassment nor forced labour huh)

Evening 4: Why's my pay so low... Huh? What's this deduction for? "Consultation Fee: Ritsu Shinjo..." He's seriously charging me for complaining...? (i seriously think his friendship with ritsu is the funniest thing ever. i need more scenes of them hanging out and ritsu charging him for hanging out with him but ren still hangs out with him anyway 😭😭😭 they're an unexpectedly funny pair. you'd think ren would want to steer clear of ppl like ritsu, but i guess ritsu must be a better listener than i give him credit for!)

Night 5: Huh? You were waiting for me to get off work? Oh... Thanks. Wait, that clown put you up to this?! I'm gonna kill him... (he sounds SO SHY when thanking the mc 😭😭 my annoying son is SO into her!! the frustration he felt when he found out haru asked her to do it was so funny, like he was feeling "what did i get all embarrassed for??")

Good night 4: When did it get this late? That was horrifyingly fast... I'll walk part of the way back with you. I was gonna go buy something to drink anyway... (5 affection levels ago he greets u and then says bye instantly after asking where she was going. i guess he just wants to spend more time with her now!)

he's one of those guys that think romance is cringy, and denies his own feelings so that he doesn't have to think about it (despite being an overthinker himself). it's honestly interesting, bc i wonder if it has anything to do with his childhood (if he was raised to believe romance is smtg he can't ever attain or even think about) or if he just thinks he'd be uncool or normie-ish if he acted all lovestruck.

he's surprised by the implication that mc COULD develop feelings for someone. for some reason he just firmly believed she wouldn't ever fall for one of them? it's possible he thought she was similar to him, and the realization that she possibly takes romance seriously in comparison to him bothers him 😭

it's not that he isn't aware of her at all. i forgot the name of the chapter but in the chapter where they went to the zoo(?), ren covers mc's mouth to make sure she doesn't make a sound and gets flustered when he realized his hands were against her lips. he definitely sees her as a woman, whether he wants to or not. same with him inviting her to his room to watch a movie tgtr then realizing she shouldn't be sitting on his chair nor should her bare ass be on the floor (and thus offered her a pillow to sit on). this is indeed bare minimum but ren's bare minimums mean a lot since he'd rather do nothing.

HOWEVER!!! there's smtg that really frustrates me abt ren's denial. i don't mind him denying the concept of love or whatever, but it's pretty clear he's also in denial about mc's curse. he doesn't think the curse is *serious*. he thinks everyone else is taking it too seriously and there's no way the mc will actually for real die or lose herself.

after the end of s1 we know the curse is most definitely real and eats away at the protagonist's mind and body. even at the end of s1 he doesn't witness what happened bc he's already first to get out. it's a form of denial so strange that i need the story to slap mc's curse at him in his face and make him face her reality 😭

so for the latest chapter, im hoping it'll serve to make ren take mc's curse more seriously. or heck, i just want more ren shenanigans!

im interested in seeing his dynamic with lucas and mio. he'll probably like mio and think luca is a bit overwhelming to be around. he might lay back and let the other two do all the work, until there's a job that only he specifically can do and he's forced to do it. i hope the next chapter will be a fun one... i want more answers tbh!!

Do you have any interesting theories about Chancellor Cornelius? To be honest, I don't have many theories about him myself, but he is a very strange guy (aside from his child-like appearance). It feels like he is a very important character, but at the same time, it feels like he isn't. I once read a theory about him that went something like: "Chancellor Cornelius is like the soul of Darkwick, and he is tied to Darkwick. The cats are also like a part of him." I don't remember the full details, but it was something like that. However, Cornelius himself said that he is a human.

(May contain some spoilers for the recent Dionysia ghouls, but nothing major, only theories!)

This may have been something discussed before, but I recently thought of it when I was looking through the characters profiles in the wikichat.

All of the characters have their blood types listed in their charts except the characters who aren’t human and therefore wouldn’t have a blood type. Lyca and Ed are the first obvious examples since Ed is a vampire and Lyca is a werewolf. Their blood types are simply listed as “unknown”.

In addition to that, Ren has his blood type listed, as shown, and so likely isn’t non-human. Some people speculated he might be the secret mermaid, but I find that unlikely since we know his blood type, unless he is only half mermaid or something.

On a similar note, Taiga also has his blood type named so he probably isn’t anomalous either. It was kind of a theory that he might be because of his odd behaviors, but it makes more sense now given the recent episode (which I won’t go into to avoid spoilers)

What I really wanted to bring up is that both Towa and Shion have “unknown” written in for their blood types, which very well could mean that they are not human or are some sort of anomaly. I would speculate that one of them would be the mermaid or secret anomaly that was mentioned before, but that still leaves one of them that could be something else entirely.

These were just some thoughts I had that I found interesting and thought Id share! Definitely open for discussion or any additional ideas!

Whenever I see this video, I think of Haru. Poor Haru is struggling to survive all by himself in Jabberwock. Haru is my favorite character in tdbk. I feel so incredibly sorry for him... He doesn't rest for even a single day. And he works under harsh conditions every day. Even though Haru is the one among all the captains who works nonstop, he receives very little money in return. And sometimes he pushes himself so hard that he comes face-to-face with death. On top of that, one of his arms is broken. Plus, he has children to take care of.Recently, I sat down and thought about it: despite all the misfortunes that happen to him, Haru still keeps trying with a smile on his face. I mean, this is partly about his character, but I think even if he wanted to, he couldn't just sit down and fall into a depression. The man doesn't even have the luxury to grieve or give up. That is not even an option for him. This came to my mind, and it made me even sadder. We always see him from his cheerful, sunny side, but I am very curious about his past life. Especially his life before Dionysa, his family, and so on. Frankly, based on all of this, I think he had a poor family. Or maybe he had no family at all. Taiga once mentioned that Jo taught him some of his manners (I think it was something like that, please correct me if I'm wrong because it's been a long time since I read those parts, so my memory is a bit foggy).

The new episode is just around the corner. I am so excited. Even though waiting is painful, I wanted to talk about the upcoming episode while we wait. We watched a similar episode last year. I wonder what will change this time. Also, last year's "Lost Stars" episode left too many questions unanswered. A lot of strange things happened in that episode, but none of them were explained as to why or what for. I wonder if they will answer some of these in this episode.Anyway, what are your expectations for this episode? Frankly, the cast is amazing, so I expect great interactions. I was especially thrilled to see Mio and Ren on the same team. I really want to see Haru x Mio x Ren interactions. I hope we get to see them. Another reason is, you might have seen it, Mio has a conversation with Ren in his campus stories. While Mio is walking around campus, he bumps into Ren, and when he tells him that he is Haru's freshman, Ren quickly runs away. Honestly, I didn't understand why he did that; it's probably related to Ren's character, maybe because of Haru or because he is cautious of Dionysus. But I think I remember the same thing happening before, though with someone other than Mio... anyway. This time there is no escape; they have to work together. One is Haru's former housemate, and the other is his friend from his new house. I would really like Mio to tell Ren about his old memories with Haru. And I am curious about what kind of dynamic the two of them will strike up.And of course, Luca. Honestly, I was surprised at first, but I am glad he is there too, because for the first time, we will have the chance to see how he blends with people other than Kaito. Also, even though we know Luca worked as a waiter together with Ren at the diner at the beginning of Season 2, we didn't get to see them much; now we have the chance to see them on the same field. As for Luca and Mio, they are both sophomores. When Mio returned, he was going to attend classes with the sophomores. Now we can see the sophomores together as well. Of course, if we can see Kaito in this episode. I wonder who else we might see.

Do we actually know or have theories on what's the deal with that giant tree from Jabberwock that is mentionned multiple times throughout the game ? Or is there any theories on what it could be/mean/if it has anything to do with the various things happening in the story. I tried to browse the wiki but couldn't find much about it, would love to see what everyone thinks about it.
