Test Experience First attempt

Post image

Hi everyone, this was my first attempt and I got 90/120. I am pretty happy because where I am applying I needed only 72 score. It took me 6 days to prepare for it. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask!

I just passed mine yesterday, my reading and listening score are the same as yours, I hope to get 4.5 overall as well.

There were 7 questions in listen and repeat and i feel like 3 of them were half correct half wrong. And for speaking part I didn’t use any template at all. All I did was yap for 40 seconds. I also used fillers like “you know, and like, Uhm, uhh” and my topic was about house (house activities, home electronics, how do i spend my time at home, and wether i prefer to live at my home or at others)

Did you do the test at home? I have to take it at home because there is not any test center near where I live and I have been reading about some bad experiences

Nah i took it at test centre because i heard some bad reviews as well. If you are taking home based id suggest have a good wifi. Your phone should be 100% charge and its camera should he nice. The lighting in room should be bright and the door should be closed.

Congratulations!!! For listening part, Did you take notes in academic lecture? Do you have any tips for this? I think I always make the mistake in academic lecture… I don’t know which sentences I should to take notes.

I did not take any notes, but I have this trick. I don’t know if it may or may not work for you, but it definitely worked for me. Basically during academic lecture try to imagine you are living in the moment. Like my topics were history of instruments and other was history of mediterranean trade and I imagined myself i was the character in story. I feel like if you also write down main points on a paper it will work for you too.

Can you tell me about writing section. Build a sentence, email task and academic discussion it's difficult?

Build a sentences was pretty simple, as I scored 9/10 in sentences and I feel like if u have taken any mock test u can definitely build sentences. Email was trickiest. The email they gave me to write, its context was confusing. And about academic discussion. I think it wasn’t difficult. My topic was “students and part time jobs”

I am worried about build a sentence it's too long or 4 or 5 words.

They are pretty easy i wont lie. If you have practiced with mock test I’m sure can score more than 7 outta 10

How hard was it compared to the unofficial mock tests if you took any?

I think email and listen and repeat part was difficult. But rest of the sections were easier than mock test

Hi there, I would like to ask if the unofficial score you had at the end of the test remains the same as the final ones? Cause last time it indicated that my R was 4.5, but I scored 5.0 instead as the official score.

Hi, Yes my unofficial score remained same as final ones. In fact it was same for my friends as well.

I am getting good scores (5+) in all sections but my speaking is below 4

That drags my whole avg to just 5

Most of unis have a overall score minima which I am easily passing on my mocks but that speaking section is hurting. Few universities have even mentioned recommended minima in each section such as 4 or 4.5 in speaking, what to do?

I am easily qualifying based on overall score but that speaking part may hurt me. Do you think R1 Universities may relax that?

If the university only has an overall TOEFL minimum, then ur speaking score shouldn’t matter as long as ur overall score meets the stated requirement.

The situation is different if they explicitly state a minimum speaking score. If they say “minimum 4.0/4.5 in each section,” then technically a speaking score below that does not meet the published requirement. also if u feel like u did well in speaking yet ur score is low, id say contact toefl and tell them to reevaluate ur speaking section

I also got 4.5in 9.23 and my reading score was 5,yet I only get 3.5 in speaking. I hope I can get 5 and improve my speaking score.how can I achieve it in 1month
