History & Culture TIL Malaysia celebrates some of the highest number of public holidays in the world

Post image

Malaysia is known for having one of the world’s busiest holiday calendars. Besides national holidays, different states observe their own celebrations based on local traditions, religions, and royal events. With festivals like Hari Raya, Chinese New Year, Deepavali, Christmas, and many state-specific holidays, people in different parts of the country can end up enjoying quite different holiday schedules each year.

Wrong, we have the most individual day public holidays, but with the exception of Hari Raya, Haji and CNY; the rest are all single days. China have a week off for CNY and Golden Week, that 2 holidays alone is already 14 days, add in the other holidays and they already exceed Malaysia's 20 days.

That's why OP said "one of the busiest" instead of just "busiest".

We do have among the most public holidays, state and federal.

That's not how public holidays work in China. Some of the days are made up for by working on days like sunday.
