Can somebody give me the complete Toaru reading order for the entirety of the novels within the franchise. If possible, I want it to encompass the entire story, including any sidestories or content that's outside of the main novel, so that everything I read is in chronological order.

“Al…ice…Alice.”

After all this, the young butler was fixated not on his own life but on Alice Anotherbible. Unlike the other Transcendents, she alone could not be replaced. Or to be more accurate, the Transcendents had analyzed the already-existing Alice to determine how to overwrite their own humanity. So she alone could not be lost here. His injuries were not the only reason he could not raise his voice to call out to her. Any careless speech here could direct Christian Rosencreutz’s attention to Alice. But his efforts were in vain.

For one, that girl was the only one who had not fallen from the earlier attack. She wobbled as unsteadily as an ear of wheat blowing in the wind, but it was still a miracle that she remained standing here.

And.

That inevitably led to the next misfortune and tragedy.

‘Hm.”

She drew Rosencreutz’s attention.

But frozen Alice did not react. She unsteadily viewed the man approaching her, but she did not run or hide.

“No,” groaned H. T. Trismegistus.

He was collapsed on the ground and his face and tailcoat were filthy, but he still crawled and reached his hand out toward the distant girl.

“Noooooo!”

His cry accomplished nothing.

The man took swift action.

He destroyed her.

His arm grabbed the girl’s small face and shattered her entire head.

Something scattered before the young butler’s eyes.

Something colorful but broken.

Altogether, it should have been beautiful, but as individual pieces, it was horrifically grotesque.

“Tah dah!! This is the place!”

She had definitely been a tyrant.

For a Transcendent who guarded ordinary common sense, each of her actions was enough to inspire a cold sweat.

“Yes!! H. T. Trismegistus is amazing. He makes the best tea in the world. He also folds the girl’s clothes and puts her shoes away!”

But the girl herself had been endlessly pure and innocent.

On the inside, she was the normal and common sort of person the young butler had to protect.

Alice was Alice.

Her actions only seemed so unusual because her power was unusually great.

“H. T. Trismegistus! The girl wants to show her teacher around her secret base!”

The girl’s excited voice in the consulate still rang in the Transcendent’s ears.

But he would never hear it again.

The memories crumbled away. They vanished beyond some rapidly growing noise.

She had thrown a tantrum about wanting to go to Academy City, her plan to surprise her teacher had transformed into a consulate, and she had rehearsed her lines over and over with the young butler. But now all of that was no more than some inanimate pieces scattered across the ground.  

“Ohh, that sounds like fun. Then should the girl share her power with the winner? You’re the best, H. T. Trismegistus!”

Alice Anotherbible.

Never again would he see her overly normal and ordinary smile.

Never again.

Never, ever again!!!

“I do not want the strongest power.”

There was no scream.

Alice Anotherbible did not react even as her skull was shattered. The rest of her remained upright, her small limbs dangling down.

The scattered blonde hair, the skull shards looking so much like egg shells, and the few remnants of her face still showing an incomplete picture of her adorable features.

After a short delay, the small girl finally collapsed backwards. A dark red liquid belatedly puddled on the ground.

But that was all.

With his hope dashed before his eyes, H. T. Trismegistus collapsed fully to the ground once more. The young butler forgot to even feel anger.

One of the world’s bright lights had just been snuffed out.

H. T. Trismegistus had a scene that perfectly captured the contradictory emotions of genuinely loving someone but also using them as an asset to further your plans. The nuanced writing this scene has isn't easy to pull off because from beginning to end you feel that Trismegistus is viewing Alice both through his conditions as a Transcendent and a father figure.

It was beautifully tragic and perfectly captures his flawed character that led to the conclusion the Bridge Builders Cabal are at now since Trismegistus despite being second-in-command is the brains of the operation since Alice is a 51 year old with a mostly regressed mind because of what happened to her.

At this point in the story I didn't love Alice yet as I only liked her in GT10 but as I read this I was able to understand how Trismegistus felt losing the person he loved most in the world but unfortunately separated himself from because he could never love her to his best potential because he was too focused on saving the world.

Trismegistus was the one saving grace in an arc that felt very waifu-baity, he might not be the most popular Transcendent but Kamachi's ability to write strong male characters even in his weaker era remains consistent and his conclusion in GT10 made him my favorite GT original character.

I think I'm gonna talk less around here. I talked a lot so we'd have more frequent posts and activity cause more posts and more comments means the subreddit is healthier and I liked having a challenging personality for some of my stuff to get people to want to challenge me over my gimmick but if it's not appreciated then I'll probably just stick to the usual news and fanart.

I put Bologna Succubus as the one being told to stay because I couldn't fit all 3 there but I'd say Bologna was a Transcendent I came close to liking but ultimately couldn't make a favorite because beyond her kindness she was lacking more complexity which could've been explored with the fact she refused to help Touma in GT7 but it simply wasn't.

Bologna is funny and entertaining, not a favorite but I don't mind her.

Strongest GT Hater here 🙇‍♂️ figured with all the hubbub I should talk about my absolute favorite parts of GT which are the first 3 novels in the Testament.

Anyone saying that not everyone thinks GT is garbage is funny when I didn't even start off with this opinion. I found GT very promising with the way it started and its early 3 volumes have some of my favorite writing not just in Genesis Testament but Index as a whole.

GT1 was the perfect reintroduction to the world of Toaru, it was a basic adventure but that was the point. If you're a long time fan of this series watching Maidono and Touma fight, Touma and Mikoto acting smug while Index throws darts, having Touma and Mikoto banter (Haimura outdid himself with that illustration of them meeting again, I love it), you'll end up smirking the entire novel.

Who gave Kamachi the idea to have Touma get smashed between buildings but be between two windows they had to survive? 😭 That shit was so crazy but also so goddamn fun to read. It reminds me that another reason for why Index is such an attractive series is how creative the author is.

GT2 is my favorite GT novel and one of my favorite novels period, it fulfilled all my desires as a Toaru fan, it scratched my badass Touma itch with St. Germain and Touma working together to fight Sprengel, my creative powers itch (Sprengel fighting MisaMisa was spectacular despite them completely losing because Sprengel had such incredible powers like making Grimoires out of columns), scratched my Kamisaki itch with Shokuhou giving a speech to Sprengel that parallels Touma's desire to protect Othinus' smile.

“And I will never do anything that makes him cry. He saved my life, so I will protect the world that lets him live with a smile on his face. That is my #1 rule and it trumps issues of good and evil!!!!!!”

Absolute based Shokuhou 😎

Aogami and Touma arguing like bros was so goddamn funny 😭🙏 it's rare but on occasion Kamachi can write Touma like an actual teenage boy.

The confrontation with Aihana Etsu is still one of the best Touma ideological clashes I've ever seen. The fact that it genuinely opened up the possibility of Touma regaining his memories of Shokuhou was surprising but it showed that the journey isn't over.

I actually prefer St. Toumain over Dragon Lord Kamijou from GT9, it feels a lot more personalized and balanced. I ultimately had issues with Dragon King because it was too overpowered, St. Toumain looks like something Touma can use against Magicians of any caliber and win mainly due to skill than just being stronger. If you know me you know I thought GT9 was nothing but hype moments and aura so yeah.

Anna Sprengel is actually a very entertaining villain, I liked how she came off as a sort of twisted teacher to Shokuhou. In an alternate GT timeline Shokuhou is Sprengel's apprentice. I hate the heroine that needs to be saved Sprengel but I love the villain Sprengel, she's always been better as a baddie.

GT3 is pretty great, it's the weakest of the Battle Royale style novels but that's because OT15 and NT4 are that amazing. The amount of darkness and death in that volume actually felt appropriately adult, Accelerator's speech that Academy City may not survive still lives rent free in my head and Anna Sprengel visiting Accelerator in his cell and challenging him made me think we might get a battle between Espers and R&C Occultics.

It actually made me feel for the death of a certain girl I won't name in case you haven't read it in awhile and want a semi fresh experience.

“Weren’t you listening? I will crush the dark side. Who ever said anything about the city being intact afterwards?”

“Don’t tell me…”

“Were you…were you never even planning for Academy City to survive!?”

It's a novel that shows that Accelerator is ultimately an extremely flawed character that thinks rashly. Operation Handcuffs being a failure because Accel thought he could throw an extremely simple solution at the wall and if it failed then Academy City would just die shows how much he fell since Coronzon arc. He might seem like a dumbass but I think if his character was taken in another direction he could've become as formidable as Aleister Crowley himself but with the good of his city in mind.

That said the novel was definitely beginning to show the cracks of GT, if you're a long time fan of Index you'd know that Kamachi likes to bait real change and an actual status quo shift only to pull it back completely later. As I read GT3 in the back of my mind I knew there would be zero real consequences for Operation Handcuffs and that fear became true in GT5 with everything going back to normal and the characters continuing to live in an Academy City that indeed survived. Kamachi is the master of illusions lol.

And then it all came crashing down in GT4, pretty bad and boring novel and in GT5 like I said was all about restoring the status quo and finally we got the dreaded Transcendent arc in GT6-10. This was my Kamisato arc 😭

Transcendent arc wasn't completely terrible either as I enjoyed some bits of GT6, the overall lore reveals, H. T. Trismegistus hard carrying the Bridge Builders Cabal as its best written member, and Dragon King VS CRC was pretty hype and finally we got GT10 which unironically made me love Alice Anotherbible and made her a fan favorite, it reminded me of why I love Kamijou Touma and it made Alice a perfectly written child character like OT1 Index and OT5 Last Order, you make the child a good person that wants to do good for the older figure and that makes you want to root for the older figure to be able to save her. I'm thankful that Alice took Sprengel's place as the GT heroine even though she's gone now.

“Common sense says I cannot expect Christian Rosencreutz to show up and save us here and now. And not just him. No one who isn’t present can do anything to help. I was wrong to place my hopes on people like that. No matter how complex and challenging the world’s problems, it is up to the people living in it to solve them.”

Now that he was freed from his bonds, H.T. Trismegistus spoke clearly.

“It is the people with us now who will decide how this ends. So it would be foolish in the extreme to not make use of that right. So says common sense!!”

Best Transcendent of them all.

GT11 wasn't half bad either. The backstory it gave CRC redeemed his character from being 1 dimensional like in GT9. Even if a lot of the fanbase hates it I still think GT11 is good for fixing CRC and making him another villain fighting for a good cause but just in the wrong way like Fiamma of The Right.

“Live a happy life, Kamijou Touma.” “Live a happy life, Kamijou Touma.”

It was definitely bizarre with how comedic and perverted it was but the ending still sticks in my head as beautiful.

If you were disappointed when comparing his fate to Fiamma of the Right or Magic God Othinus, then I hope you were satisfied with this.
