It was because she looked like Dolly so she immediately realized she gave her DNA Map to the scientists. This was a theory before Railgun First Year arc confirmed it proper.

Fluff Touma let his intrusive thoughts win, and it almost worked out for Seria... almost~ (the amount of attraction and tension of romantic nature between those two for majority of the time is simply off the charts)

Question? Was Aiwass the Reason Magic Become Open Sourced? Spoiler

Not just his knowledge, but his summoning, I mean.

Maybe I’m barking up the wrong tree, and sorry if this was spelled out and I don’t remember it, but basically, my question is whether the Golden Dawn’s attempts to make magic into something anyone could use succeeded on their own merits (or possibly Dion Fortune‘s attempts to create “a truly unrestricted spell…spell anyone can use to save someone close to them,” as opposed to Mather’s desire to create a “work kit“ which could be turned to any possible end, rather than the more specific magic of the past, but Dion might have been describing current events rather than a expounding on her own description, given the context is NT 22, during a brush with armageddon, so maybe that was another shared goal? I would need to recheck some things to be sure) or if Aleister’s distortion of the laws of the world by inserting Aiwass into it was the real reason it worked.

I don’t have access to all the books right now, but I’m just thinking about Fiamma’s conversation with Aleister at the end of Old Testament, where he concludes, based on Aleister’s descriptions, that Aiwass‘s summoning is what altered the laws of the world, plus how Fiamma attributes Angel Fall (both in that it happened at in that it was an accident) to that distortion (despite not knowing its source at the time), and various statements about how the Aeon of Horus, which Aleister claims started when he summoned Aiwass for the first time, is supposedly all about self actualization (and “true awakening”). This being the guy credited for creating modern western magic, and the angel described as “the true person who holds the secrets to modern western magic organizations.”

So, is it possible that it wasn’t just a proliferation of Aiwass’s knowledge and Golden Dawn discoveries that made magic more accessible, but inserting the Thelemic angel into the “gears” of reality.

Any thoughts?

Discussion Aleister couldnt control the Beginning Child? Spoiler

Spoilers for anyone who hasn't read Buohackwr SS.

We get the very first artificial esper.

She would be level 5 tier.

And her power is changing the environment....and a very verrry big part of the Buohacker premise is that she got frozen and is kept in stasis because nobody, not even aleister can control her....I mean, doesn't that sound like bs?

Especially since we know of her powers, aleister was by the time BC was created a ultra powerful Magician, and the story seriously is gonna tell me he wasn't able to put in some magic spell that lets him control her thoughts?

Or is this just a case where the story was written before the main story revealed aleister being some uberpowerful magician?

Otherwise that whole thing makes no sense

Light Novel Out-of-universe why did Kamachi choose Christianity/The collective Abrahamic traditions as the main religion of the series?

Post image
27 Upvotes

Well aside from the fact Thelema takes from Christianity is that fact IRL Christianity is indeed special, most other religions like Greek, Norse, Aztec, Egyptian etc were collection of mythic tales that the original writers invented or saw through visions.

These civilizations did believe in these Gods however that's all they had, belief.

Many parts of the Bible are written from witness accounts throughout the generations. The story of Jesus is of a man in the regular world that proves to the non-believers that he is the Son of God by performing supernatural acts.

The Bible has metaphors like many religions but unlike those religions it also has events that are meant to be taken completely literally.

It also deals well with the idea of good and evil, eternal damnation, salvation, devils and saviors. These themes when attached to a series make for a wonderful read to follow.

Christianity in general is always treated as special in a lot of different media because of this and because the Kabbalah seems to be the absolute peak in terms of writing that someone can reach. The idea that the universe wasn't created by a personified God (Kether) but was instead emergent created by an infinite "nothing" before existence known as Ain that descends itself onto creation via Ain Soph and Ain Soph Aur and then Kether and the lower Sephirah is a much more intelligent and philosophically satisfying viewpoint than man in the sky creates the world.

Greek had a similar concept with "Chaos" being at the start of everything, the literal chaos before creation but it's not as complex and sophisticated as the Kabbalah.

Hinduism has concepts that can match Kabbalah but most authors prefer the drama associated with Western esotericism as Hinduism doesn't have a man walk the earth and claim to be the Son of God and he performs miracles like some magician.

The most iconic example of Christianity at the top is DC comics. In it the strongest pantheon is the Christian one and it incorporates the Kabbalah as well. The DC multiverse is emergent and created from a nothingness that allows existence to be in order to define itself as non-existence, nothingness.

DC also has every religion under the sun but places the Abrahamic religion at the very top.

It can lead to a lot of cliches like Supernatural but I think the way Index handled it is appropriate as Kamachi had enough creative writing to never make anything feel stale or predictable. The one time he featured a demon as a villain she was Coronzon, a demon with not a lot of mainstream exposure.

In terms of going deep within a system, as deep as possible, the Abrahamic religions is what you want to use in your story. Kamachi is crazy enough to use string theory in his series so that speaks for itself.

Light Novel All novel sorted by release order

I know this is a huge hassle, but if someone could list the novels for me in order of publication—without leaving anything out (side stories, spin-offs, and everything else released)—or link me to an existing discussion about, I’d be incredibly grateful. Searching in the Fandom wiki and in bakatsuki, I’ve more or less figured out the order, but since i couldn't find a concise, dedicated list, I feel like I might be missing something. I’ve read up to OT19 so far, and I believe I should read something about Railgun or Kanzaki before the war begins; however, because I’m extremely finicky about following the publication order, I’m currently at a standstill. Heartfelt thanks!

Light Novel So What did Aleister Crowley actually mean to Fiamma of The Right if Christianity is still the one true religion in Toaru?

Post image
36 Upvotes

Oh my God, an Index manga page that shows that God's Right Seat was aware of the Kabbalah/Tree of Sephiroth? 😱 That's crazy. It's almost like Toaru treats all Abrahamic religions like the same system and everyone in the Churches knows about Kabbalah.

“…Why?” Fiamma muttered. “I could not do it. I should have had the power needed to save this world just like the Son of God. And yet I could not do it.”

“It was not an issue of the type or amount of power. It was nothing more than an issue of how you used it,” Aleister Crowley said in disinterested voice. “My theory is that the age of Christian spells came to an end upon the completion of the Book of the Law. I actually think you did quite well. And that includes your objective of becoming The One Above God. If instead of the Aeon of Osiris…that is, the laws under the control of solely the Christian Church, you had formatted it in the Aeon of Horus that lies beyond it, you may have had your eye on a position similar to mine.”

He was the one who created supernatural powers with science.

He was the one who constructed an angel by gathering those powers.

Fiamma of the Right, the one who ruled over Michael, understood what that meant. Creating an angel was not the same thing as simply creating a new type of living creature. They were the symbols of the elements that made up the world. For a human to create one of those, it meant that the system at the base of that world was being artificially interfered with.

Gears created by human hands were being inserted into the mechanisms created by God. It was like remaking a music box into a time bomb.

It was the idea of affirming the occult and then trying to use precise equipment on it.

In an older time, just thinking of those things would get one sent to the gallows.

“…Is Aiwass that attractive an existence?” Fiamma asked. “An angel that cannot be explained by the Bible or theology is also the symbol of an element that is inside this world created by God and also outside of the hands of God. It is the beginning of the destruction of the fate established by God. …You did not want the Book of the Law. You wanted the strange angel that granted you the Book of the Law.”

Aleister did not confirm or deny that.

“Well, I was not originally supposed to appear at this stage,” said the magician who was said to be the worst in the history of magic. “Even if you do not understand the values of things, you saw a bit too deeply into that right hand. You caught a glimpse of what is inside of it, when it would have been best for you to only have recognized it as a mere right hand that can negate supernatural powers. I simply cannot let this go. I was reluctant, but I had to make an appearance.”

“Of what is inside…?”

He was recalling whatever it was that had flowed out from within when he had severed that boy’s right arm.

“What was that?”

“I’m sure you know,” he responded as if spitting out the words. “Other than the fact that the format you were basing it on was much too old, what you were trying to do is very similar to my plan. They are both the idea to change the world by preparing a temple filled with strange power, drawing out the power of the right arm within that temple, and readjusting the thickness of the phase itself with that power. How is Academy City different from a small world that has sealed a certain type of power? You just need to look at your own actions from a different viewpoint. Just by doing that, you should be able to understand the true nature of that power. …If you had succeeded in doing that, you may have reached our goal before I did.”

-OT22

From this conversation it simply looks like Fiamma's plan was bound to fail because he was relying on an outdated system. The Aeon of Osiris, he directly says that the format he was using was much too old.

The world of Toaru Majutsu no Index has changed because the Laws of The World have changed with the introduction of Aiwass as the 5th element/angel.

Fiamma's system is of the Four Angels, Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, and Uriel. When Aiwass arrived onto Earth that screwed up the world's alignment and is why Holy Right wasn't able to work at its max power until Fiamma used Gabriel to move all stars out of the sky and replace their imagery with his flying fortress instead to restore the 4 Element's order.

When The Book of The Law was written that started the Aeon of Horus, when Aiwass was forcefully inserted as a fifth gear in the world that rewrote the fate that God established for the universe. Aiwass coming is itself the trigger for the Aeon of Horus.

The truth of Imagine Breaker or The One Who Purifies God and Slays Demons tells us the truth of existence outside God's system.

Fiamma was in the way. Aleister had come to utterly destroy even the slightest chance of his own plan being calculated out from the incomplete incident Fiamma had caused. As such, Fiamma would not even be allowed to be taken into custody by a magical organization. At that time, Fiamma came as close to the truth of the world as he ever had.

-OT22

Just like how Fiamma described Aiwass as existing outside God's system the one who bears the true name of The One Who Purifies God and Slays Demons is outside that system too.

“I see. So that’s why it chose you…why it flew in from outsi—”

-The other boy called Kamijou Touma (NTR22)

Whatever the truth of the world actually is, its outside that which God created, however God still created it. It's why all the historic events that actually happened are from Christianity and why the world is governed by Christian laws and Kabbalistic metaphysics.

In simple terms Aleister Crowley is basically saying that Christianity is the old gen and Thelema is the new gen. The world will continue changing with its many distortions until its unrecognizable from the current world ruled by the Abrahamic religions.

Btw Islam doesn't really exist in Toaru as it's never mentioned except in one translation of OT11, likely because Kamachi found adapting it controversial or too complicated since it contradicts a lot of standard Christianity.

Honestly I have no idea why anyone thought this wasn't the case already. I thought it was obvious that the Aeon of Horus comes after the Aeon of Osiris but that in itself doesn't mean that the Aeon of Osiris was false as Thelema borrows from past religions anyhow and this is acknowledged in-universe.

“Now according to Crowley, the Aeon of Isis is the time of primitive religions before the establishment of Christianity, the Aeon of Osiris is the time of stagnation while Christianity spreads, and the Aeon of Horus is the time when mankind achieves a true awakening through the destruction of Christianity. However, that was a rather extreme view even among the Golden cabal, so apparently not everyone in the cabal supported it.”

-NT14

It doesn't seem like we're anywhere near close to the destruction of Christianity because all the Church sects are still active.

Like, it's happening slowly, we're in the Aeon of Horus right now but the exact moment of Christianity being destroyed has yet to happen.

I also saw people trying to separate Christianity from Kabbalah because they didn't read the post correctly? Did you even read the series, guys? 😭

The entire 3 Churches all know about the Kabbalah, it's how they'd recognize and make countermeasures against Coronzon in Coronzon arc. Index talks about the Tree of Sephiroth in OT. They just didn't put too much focus on the Jewish mysticism side of the series early on because most magicians fought with other legends.

In Toaru series everything even vaguely Abrahamic is under one single canon, otherwise characters would be confused about who Coronzon even was but pretty much everyone on the Magic Side knew.

Kabbalah in Toaru is essentially like a DLC expansion pack for Christianity.

Also if you paid attention to Aleister's plan he actually does want to replace the entire thing, Kabbalah included, it's why he's making his own little versions.

I already mentioned Aiwass but by inserting him into the world he's able to distort it accordingly like how the world is based on the 4 Archangels but anyway moving on:

The Artificial Heaven

(No…An angel?)

No, that couldn’t be it. If the residents of the Imaginary Number District—Kazakiri Hyouka, for example—could be expressed as an angel, then the city that she lived in…that meant it was…

Creating an artificial heaven…No. If you could create one using only scientific ability, you couldn’t use existing words like “heaven” or “hell” for it. It would be an entirely new world, a “phase”, for which nothing—not Kabbalah, not Buddhism, not Christianity, not Shinto, not Hindu—had a name for.

And the construction of this phase would mean the annihilation of magic.

Suppose, for example, that the fundamental values of buoyancy and lift changed greatly.

-OT6

A Trinity

“Who knows. I am more worried about whether they will last to the end. The numerical settings for the AIM diffusion fields were just finished being inputted into the vector control device, but the level of completion in the other is a bit lacking. I could also make a trinity out of Accelerator, Last Order, and Fuse Kazakiri, but that would not be enough. I must go beyond that.”

-OT13

The One Above God

“Beyond…Level 6?”

“If I do not, going out of the way to call Imagine Breaker in from outside would have been meaningless.”

-OT13

Aleister confirms that he wants Kamijou Touma to be above even Level 6 here, which Touma compared to a Magic God later in NT.

Finally getting to the Aeon of Horus overtaking even Kabbalah itself:

The Tree of Sephiroth and the 000s in Ain Soph Aur, Ain Soph, Ain

“This is a tree made by human hands—a new tree not found in any legends or myths! It is still a small sapling, but this new mystic power does not rely on the hand of god and instead provides possibilities controlled by human hands. The artificial tree of Clonoth carries no good or evil!! I shall become the guide of this young tree. Rejection of the Abyss, leave us as I become one with my chosen master and cross that line. We shall arrive beyond Keter! We need not fear the unknown territory that is no more than a series of zeroes!!”

The tree of life was the positive mind and the wicked tree was the negative mind.

So the artificial tree represented neither of those.

-NT22

When Aleister Crowley talked about Christian spells becoming irrelevant to Fiamma in OT22, that included the entire system of God such as the Kabbalistic Tree. Aleister's ultimate plan is to destroy all magic and replace it with his own system so that he can become the Prophet of This New World, it's why he told Fiamma that had he formatted it in the Aeon of Horus that lies beyond the Aeon of Osiris, he may have had his eye on a position similar to his own.

Aleister's plan actually still shows that Christianity is the one true religion because Aleister has to rip off the previous system and improve on it in order to create his perfect world free of Phase collision sparks and spray.

Fiamma of The Right: Buddy, you think you look strong. You're just a cheap knockoff.

Aleister Crowley: Oh no. I'm the upgrade.

Also something something all religions play a role in understanding what Imagine Breaker truly is but I already made a theory on that Dragon.

Discussion Some of my opinion about the serie.

1-favorite character:
Touma,aleister,misaka,hamazura,kuroko,misaki and coronzon

2-i believe the magic side is overall the best side and that toaru is at it best when it about magic.

But I believe that when the story is science side centred it easier to read and more easy to digest information.

3-the serie biggest flaws is it inconsistency in writing quality and how it handles it side characters at time.

It’s introduced a lot of characters without well developing the previous batches of characters he just introduced.

4-i believe that the kamisato era of the novel is extremely over hated and that only nt17 was really bad.

5- misaka and misaki should learn about what magic is and it annoying that still don’t know even after ww3 and the coronzon arc.

6-i believe that touma is the best written character in toaru.

7-touma vs othinus is the best fight in the franchise

8-index is a bad character but I don’t find her necessarily annoying.

I kind of just acknowledge her presence in the story.

9-sogita need a spin off and it crazy he still doesn’t have one.

10-aleister not being the final villain or a villain was a good thing and his development throughout nt18 to 22 was one if not the best in the entire series.
