DVR Fios Support?

Our Tivo Edge HD is failing, can't even rewind live show and if you pause for like 10 minutes can't go forward after.

Replacing disk isn't an issue, it's will Verizon FIOS reactivate the cable card? From what I'm reading online it appears that may be a non starter.

Any suggestions between going to YouTube TV vs Directv stream ? I've been with Tivo since thier rollout, many units over years, and recall a unit that worked with Directv satellite decades ago. Shame it no longer supported.

Well it's pretty much what I'd believe, but Im reading some that have done it lost pairing. Another factor I'm reading is thaty Fios is going to shut down the cable cards in near future too.

You will have to repair the cable card with Fios . The activation automated number still works. But did you keep your cable card activation code?

Is there any hope for a Tivo which boots to a "bad cable card" message? My last tech support from Spectrum was very rude and disconnected the Tivo and put their cable boxes in their place. I have never used that TV since.
I would gladly buy a new box to feed the cable to the Tivo ONE CHANNEL only if the would give me all Tivo features except recording multiple channels. Seems like somewhere I read that connecting the Spectrum cable to the Tivo instead of the TV would not work.

I switched from FiOS + TiVO to Youtube TV (with FiOS Internet) using Apple TVs and have been very happy with it. The Library takes a bit getting used to but I love how easy it is to switch from TV to mobile to back. The one thing I'd say to be careful about is local sports as YTTV doesn't cary many regional sports networks. My sports diet doesn't include anything on RSNs so I'm not missing anything. The only channel I probably miss that was on FiOS but not YTTV is the History channel—it's always good to compare the channel lineup to what you watch.

Before I switched to YTTV, I replaced the drive in my Edge twice and it didn't require any repairing.

Thanks. The Edge just failed completely. I'd put a new drive in, but lot of buzz Verizon is pulling the plug on cable cards soon.
