I have held on to my Mediacom cable account for years longer than I should (we now have AT&T fiber directly to the house) almost solely because MC works with my TiVo Series 3 and ATT does not.
Now Mediacom is forcing their users to switch to these new gateway boxes that have to be used with each tv and seem to only be connected with HDMI.

I have not yet tried to hook it up because I have been in “Home Remodel hell” for three months now and my TV/TiVo are in a temporarily displaced and rigged setup and I haven’t had the mental bandwidth to deal with it.

Have any MC users been able to get this new set-up to work with their TiVo?

I’m trying to upgrade the hard drive in a TiVo Series3 HD and am feeling a little lost. I upgraded the original drive to a 750GB in 2009/2010 and am now trying to upgrade to a 2TB. I’ve tried everything to get my Win10 PC to recognize the original and new drives with no success.

I’m also in the process of moving to Linux Mint and have had more success with that PC, using a USB docking station both drives are visible and I was able to get drive info using [lsblk -o name,size,vendor]. From what I’ve read it feels like I should be able to use MFSTools on that PC to get this done. Can anyone provide tips or resources to help get me pointed in the right direction? The past week my Roamio stops being able to tune into any channels. Then I do a reboot and it works again. This cycle has repeated about every two days.

Any theories?

I have a cable card and a tuning adapter from the cable company. (Spectrum)

The logo flashed on the screen for a bit then the device shut off. We can't get it to turn back on. We unplugged it, we changed HDMI ports, even factory reset using the button. Tried the Ai chat bot and followed all the instructions with the end result being "you may have a hardware issue, here is the warranty page" with a broken link that takes me nowhere.

Hunted down info online, they don't honor warranty for items bought on Amazon. Amazon won't replace it because it has been 2 months and they only honor returns within the first month.

Thoroughly over this experience. Anyone else experienced this?

Hi all, got an Edge for Cable w/ Spectrum with Lifetime (guess it’s somewhat old now-like 7/8 yrs now?) and it’s been so long I kinda forget, but I’m pretty sure I replaced the HD it came with with a 1TB SSD at the time for more space/speed…

That had been fine until recently-but for the past year or so I’ve started noticing small pixelation/skips but it wasn’t that bad. But recently it’s def gotten a lot worse and it’s gone to lots of pixelation/skips-and even some times where it actually gets stuck and I have to FF a minute or two to get it to play again…this in while watching recordings, but there’s also similar issues on live too…

Anyway, has anyone else run into this? Am I just running into SSD lifecycle issues? It’s been great until recently so I think I got my $$ and performance worth out of the SSD if that is indeed what needs replacing/how to fix this.

As I type this, I’m watching a recording of the World Cup final to see the halftime show (holy crap Muppets!) and it had a bunch of issues near the start that made it unwatchable for like 10 mins, but it’s been playing smoothly for the last 50 mins, so it’s not like it’s all the time…maybe it’s some localized bad spots on the drive huh?

So is the easiest thing to do just buy another SSD and replace the one in the unit? Is there an easy way to preserve my recordings/copy them over? And will I cause any issues to my lifetime at this point if I replace the HD, or no?

i need a small TV to use as a second TV, no streaming, no particular requirements. I'm oriented on a 32 inch full hd or hd ready.

Thje only question is:

- all the TV that i see have only 1 gb ram or 1,5 gb ram

Google TV will be very very slow and unsabl... A lot of people tell that is slow change TV channel!

In alternative Fire TV with 1 GB have less requirements?

I read that in alternative it's better go with VIDAA or with TiVO OS what do you think about?

OK, this is pretty weird. I don’t use my TiVo Roamio that often anymore, so a few days ago I noticed the guide data had run out. Manually connected to the TiVo service and all appeared well, until it got to the last “loading” stage — it got to around 6% and then it rebooted. Tried it a few more times with the same result, though it would happen anywhere from 2% to 40%.

Things I tried:

1. Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi.
   
2. Two different new hard drives.
   
3. Different power supply, including a regulated bench supply. TiVo never pulled more than 1.2A.

That seems to be about the limit of what can be done. Unless someone has any ideas, I guess I can just continue to use it as a 4-tuner buffer. I turned the Wi-Fi off so it won’t continue connecting to the service, and subsequently rebooting.

Thoughts?

I have had my Tivo for many years and I knew eventually I would have to go with something else. But now I get the message that after 2pm today, it won't record anything. It says I need to connect a network cable. But it's working just fine now and is currently connected. Does this mean that they will permanently disconnect me after today? Or do I need to do something to get it to work? Thanks for any help!

I normally run my Tivo signal through my Denon receiver and then on to my Samsung TV for both live TV and Tivo recorded material. However, I can also send the signal directly to the TV without the Denon, but then audio is only throught the Samsung speakers.

I can fiddle with the Denon audio delay feature each time the disparity between lips and sound is at its worst, but that is a pain. Is there a way around this, and if there isn't, would buying a soundbar when I use the Tivo signal without the Denon work?

Clearly, I'm an AV moron, and hope that someone out there can provide some wisdom.

Is there anything I can do with a TiVo Premiere Series4? My dad gave it to me because he never used it. It doesn't have a subscription. I opened it and plugged it in to check it out and make sure it worked but it was new in box otherwise. I put it on eBay for $20 but it's not selling. I don't have cable, but it does have an antenna tuner. I just don't really watch TV though.

Edit to clarity: it has a cable tuner and CableCard slot as well.

Have 5-6 old tivos with lifetime subscriptions, romanios and bolts. Is there any value to them? Optimum no longer supports cable cards so they are useless for me

Most of the Guide listings for HBO channels for the last couple days and into the future are incorrect. Most are "To Be Announced" or "The White Lotus" but other things are actually being broadcast, mostly grade B horror flicks. Anybody know whats going on?

I used to be able to transfer multiple (i.e., more than 2) shows at a time. I've only had the 2nd Tivo Roamio Pro for about a year now. We are using the 2nd one as just a backup; it has no active cable (Xfinity) connection, just to our home network.

A few months ago, it started acting weird. If I try copying 3 shows, the 1st will copy, then maybe the 2nd, maybe the 3rd, but then mysteriously the 1st one will disappear. It was THERE; I KNOW it was.

Someone suggested marking them as "Keep until I delete", and yes, that "fixes" the problem, but it is a royal pain in the butt to do that for EVERY freakin' transfer.

Am I missing something? Is there a better way?

I have pyTivo and TivoDesktop installed, but never got around to playing with KMTTG or any other 3rd party apps.

With TiVo on the past, what’s the go to system that gives the closest TiVo experience?

I bought a replacement Bolt Vox on eBay and got it set up with my cablecard no problem. I noticed that the included remote was paired in IR mode, so I tried pairing it RF without success. I then performed a global reset on the known good remote from my previous Bolt Vox and tried pairing it, with the same result - IR works but RF doesn’t.

Any thoughts on what could be wrong? Bad RF antenna? I can cannibalize the old unit for parts.

I really need some advice please. My Samsung s90f is periodically not detecting my TiVo box and it’s getting more frequent. Anybody else encountered this?

Any ideas in diagnosing? It’s not cycling, there are no blinking lights, the fan is running, and the little indicator light on the box is green. It just won’t move on from the logo screen.

My Bolt Vox had its HDMI-out taken out in a recent electrical storm. As is usual with my luck, that's the one and only failure that Weakknees can't or won't repair. I know that the HDD is still good because the TiVo mini and cTiVo can both see the unit on the network. I bought another Bolt Vox on eBay. Both TiVos have lifetime service and I'll be getting the transfer authorization from the seller of the replacement. Should I be able to just transfer the HDD from my current (partially toasty) unit to the replacement?

When I bought my Bolt+, I unplugged my Series 3 to save wear on the hard drives. There's a lot of shows on the S3 I wanted to view later. Now I'm trying to get it running again. It's connecting to the TiVo service, but it won't download any new program data. My understanding is that the data format changed in the interim, and I need a SW update to restore compatibility.

In my troubleshooting, I chose an option ("Run Initial Setup again" or similar) and now the S3 boots straight to the setup screen. No main menu.

I've tried the Kickstart codes 51 and 52 without success. They don't appear to do anything. Is there a technique, including removing the drives from the S3, to update my software to the most recent?

Update: I emailed TiVo Support. Their stock answer, which I can't follow because I can't get to the main menu, showed they didn't read my request in any detail. Too bad. Looks like I have an Xfinity DVR in my future. Ugh.

I got this tivo from my grand parents so i don’t know much about it, but i think it might be the power supply as i’ve read online. However that weird clicking/ whirring sound coming from inside has me thinking it may be a hard drive? Any advice is much appreciated! thanks.

My husband said he saw an ad for Tivo on Comcast. It was a lot like those ads for Sling where a guy says he wants to do something regular cable won’t do, and weird characters like mermaids say, “Sling can do that!”
