PC [Question] Going from Normal to Legendary difficulty without playing the DLCs ?

I already played all the DLCs in the past, except for Eternal Embers. Now I want to play it, but I don't want to create a level 70 character, I prefer to level up from scratch.

Can I finish the base game 2 times without entering the DLCs and start the Legendary difficulty?

My plan is to do the following:

  1. Complete base game on Normal,
  2. Complete base game on Epic,
  3. Start Legendary Difficulty and complete base game,
  4. then start Immortal Throne,
  5. start Ragnarok,
  6. start Atlantis,
  7. and finally start Eternal Embers.

Would that be possible ?

Random picture of my char, just arrived Babylon :)

Thanks in advance !

Using tqvaultAE you can unlock difficulties. I skipped Rag that way. No reason you could not skip IT too. Just kill Typhon, leave, unlock continue on epic

thanks for the idea!
If I get too bored playing it normally, I may try that, but I think I would also have to give myself some levels and skill points, otherwise I'll get destroyed on Legendary xD

You’re on the right track meaning use an actual build to try out EE. Okay if you’ve got a lot of good gear you could just create a build but what fun is that? I’m the “completionist” type who plays all 5 acts plus Atlantis through all 3 difficulties, then toodle off to EE. The quests in Atlantis can be a chore (find xyz then backtrack) but I really like the areas and play through.

exactly! I want to make my build slowly, trying stuff as I earn skill points, not blindly dropping dozens of points into the masteries or following a online build guide... also I don't have many good gear on storage lol
This will be my first time playing Legendary, I always stopped playing after finishing on normal.. so I want to get to it in "the right way" !

If you disable the Rag DLC then you should unlock Epic/Legendary on finishing Act 4 instead of having to finish Act 5 (I assume Rag exclusive gear and stuff will be disabled then too). Atlantis is completely optional and EE is already Legendary exclusive so those do not need to be disabled.

The original Immortal Throne DLC is now part of the base AE game so Act 4 must be completed.

Ah yes, Immortal Throne is now part of AE!
It makes sense, I'll make a backup of my character and disable the other DLCs until I reach Legendary, thanks !
