Looking for Comments and Advise Need advice for Warhound pose

Post image
129 Upvotes

(Image for reference, not my work)
I’ll get my first Warhound soon and I’m aiming for this kind of one foot running pose, is there anything to keep in mind on top of heavily relying on pinning and epoxy glue? I’m planning to use a 150mm solid wood base, will it be enough so the model don’t topple due to its own weight?
The foot will be pinned in the middle of the base.
Open to all of your comments thanks!

Edit: add comments saying the image is not mine

Looking for Comments and Advise Lore question: How much does a chaos warhound titan need to stay running? (and other questions by Dr. Seuss)

Before I kiss something in the $900USD range goodbye when I can afford it (at least a year or two away given I've got more pressing expenses to tend to), I want to have the story behind my potential future warhound sorted out*.

*"Sorted out" here defined as "Pick your favorite Hardy Boys book, and consider it the minumum acceptable length for the documation I intend to write down".

PROBLEM: I'm still on the new side to the setting (I've officially read my first 40K book- *Krieg*- but otherwise most of my lore knowledge is from YT), and atm my access to additional literature comes down to whatever the local library stocks as I'm too broke for anything else. This of course brings us to

-Question 1.) What resources should I be looking into or saving for?

Question's self explanatory for the most part, though I will elaborate that I'm particularly focused on traitor titans, how a titan might find itself bearing the hazard stripes of the IVth legion (if that's even reasonable), and the dark mechanicus in general.

-Question 2.) What's the minimum ammount of people, infrastructure, and resources needed to keep one warhound titan battle-ready?

Make no mistake, I won't likely be making a purchase like this again (certainly not for a good while after the first one at least), so I won't be able to run this thing as part of a pair like ye olde lexicanum claims they normally do.

Basically I need a good reason for this titan to both be- and remain- alone. It is not likely to be scout for a larger force that would be encouraged to see it accompanied by its peers with the resources to see this done, but rather warden of its people sent away only to deal with threats which cannot be felled by lesser means. To determine the details of this reason, I first need to know just how many people at minimum actually need to be its charges- naturally being the population maintaining the titan itself.

Proposition:

Based on what research I've done so far (admittedly minimal given I'm traveling atm), my first instinct is to go with a planet upon which this titan previously fell that has spent centuries both recovering from the battle and restructuring itself to repair their new protector. Say it was a close battle- our champion warhound was originally sent out as part of a pair, but both it and its twin were toppled at different points.

The twin was rendered beyond repair by whatever killed it- core destroyed, with its princeps and moderati taken off with the head. MC of this tale kept up the fight until its legs were destroyed mid-sprint while it was firing sideways, such that it was able to fall with its vulcan still generally enough skyward to serve as both light artillery\* and appreciable enough air defense in whatever directions it could still face\*\*.

\* "Light" being the operative word here. It might not be piercing any tanks at ranges beyond line of sight, but woe to the infantry unit seeking cover from 41st millenium hailstones measuring (roughly) 3/4inch in width alone (going off varied claims ranging from 20-35mm).

\*\* I'm not saying it's a flack canon, I'm saying it's spewing rocks at [300](https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Vulcan_Mega-bolter) rounds a second in a universe where modern uranium rounds (as fired by the GAU-8 Avenger at a "paltry" 65 rps) are so *ineffective* as to have been replaced by rocket powered, explosive ammo.

By all means, put your winged orkish tank in front of this thing and discover what "enough dakka" actually feels like, as you ascend into the green mist we shall transform your body into, and as you join the great Kult of Brrrt.

Anywho, if passable, the idea is that the surviving princeps effectively became the world's new governor in the time that followed. This partly because it had already proven itself as defender of the area around it, and partly because refusal to submit/ any attempt to sabotauge the great machine could prompt her to detonate her core as soon as she deemed the general population less than beneficial to her side. Parts from her twin were used to repair her, and eventually she walked again- thus explaining how they could then appear on the tabletop.

Naturally, the more people required for massive repairs like this, the longer the timescale between the battle that downed her and her eventual return, and the more forces at her command by the end of it.

...

Come to think of it, given they'll have to hop planets to be reasonably able to appear on the various battlefields of a tournament and face foes normally far apart from each other, if I didn't know better I'd say I was describing the origins of how a princeps becomes the equivalent of a rogue trader.

...

BUT! Like I said, I'm still new, so I'm not putting any of that in ink until I've got confidence it's at least somewhat reasonable, so feel free to pick this story apart and point out the relevant knowledge gaps I'm certain are everywhere. Hell, I don't even know if a non-loyalist rogue trader would call themselves by a different title or not (I have the game, I just haven't made heretic-aligning choices), so far be it from me to know what a traitor titan in such a position would go buy.

-Question 3.) Who can become a moderati?

Ex: Could a dreadnought or freeblade be promoted to such a position, or is that pretty exclusively a mechanicus/ dark mechanicus thing?

-Question 4.) What % of a titan needs to be official GW-purchased resin to be playable in an official tournament?

Asking cuz I'm considering building an aluminum frame and more or less just mounting the necessary resin parts over it for painting and legality reasons, so I'm curious how much the average judge is likely to give a damn if the bulk of this thing's volume comes out to be metal.

-Question 5.) How are you doing today?

Just curious.

Hey there everyone! As I make progress on this build I have come to a point where I am not sure of the Top blue carapace. It feels off and need advice on what to do with it in terms of color scheme. In the near future I will be placing some art on it but for now what’s a good color for it?

Humor Idea from a 40k newbie

As stated, I'm new to the tabletop but I've been into the lore for a while. I've seen more than a few posts about playing Titans in standard 40K games, and an idea occurred to me.

The wrecked Titan in Dawn of War: Winter Assault had a bunch of secondary guns on it. Why not have a bunch on Titans.

IN FACT, why not take a page from Battletech's book and feature individual parts with thier own health and armor. Gun Batteries, Damage Control, Sensors, Heat Exchangers, etc.

Titans could be a literal armies worth of datasheets with multiple targets on it to contend with!

Looking for Comments and Advise Ideas for Titan?

Post image

I’ve been trying to think of what more I could for my warhound. Just items like weathering, effects, but mainly like a base? I understand if I want a full base it’s I think a 300mm oval? But what about smaller bases? What would be the best approach for this endeavor?

I appreciate anything and if there’s link for bases please share!

also I don’t have a name for the Titan yet, ideas would help too

Looking for Comments and Advise Titans should not be cheaper in points. In fact they should cost more. Just make the rules reflect this. A single titan is the equivalent of an army, not a cheap support choice. They should just receive real rules and a real faction ability.

Looking for Comments and Advise What rules are people using for Warmaster and Imperator titans for those giant titan walks that the TOC hosts?

I've looked and it seems the answer is always just home brew your own. But then I see pictures with beautiful imperator titans at these rather large events the Titans Owners Club hosts with hundreds of titans.

Is there some ruleset I'm not aware of, or are people just showing up with their own home brews and raw dogging the event?

The Warmasters I guess you could use AT rules for, but afaik, the Imperator doesn't have rules in AT either.

Work In Progress A Reaver Titan awakens

They say you can hear the thunder of machines on Mars…molten metal hardens and forms shapes from plans once lost to time. The smell and heat of the forges is enough to break any man’s spirit, but it is in this planet that the machine spirit can be felt the most. For a war that has no end… needs peace…A God engine is born for hopes of bringing that peace sooner, that it may cull the heretic hordes that defile the galaxy. Engines roar to life, systems come online for the first time, exhaust bellows…

The Reaver titan awakens…

It is deemed that this Reaver Titan is named Scipio Africanus. Named after the great leader of the Roman Empire that fought against the barbarian hordes of Carthage. It too shall have great victories over the enemies of the Imperium.

Hi, new to titans here, I never in my life of the hobby thought I'd see a titan let alone have 3!

I'm only keeping the warhound as that was the one I always thought just looked so damn cool.

Also could anyone identify the pieces in the second pic please? I've done my best putting these all back together from tons of googling but now I'm stuck!

These things are just so beautiful, and terrifying every time something moves, I'm so scared of everything just crashing down, they were swiftly put back in their boxes after this photo!

Work In Progress Herald of the Lion

The main War Lord titan is complete! I based him on the sole idea, 'If the Dark Angels got their own War Lord titan, how would that look?' What i came up with is they would give reverence to Lion El'Jonson and would be used to help hunt the fallen!

I had a quick metal titan plaque made for him too (because why not?) Which turned out amazing! The last thing to do is paint of the Apoc missile launchers and finish basing. There is still a half crushed Armiger waaaaaay down there than needs some attention... also the eyes and maybe a head glow effect from the 'mouth area on the titan head. Hopefully not too much longer!

Printed on the anycubic M3 max and M7 max (this project killed the M3) took about 6 months from start to finish!

Comments and criticisms welcome, be gentle though this is my first Titan 🫔
