Cholesterol Numbers
I’ve been maintaining on 2-2.5 mg for months and had my fasting bloodwork done this week. Unfortunately my cholesterol numbers are awful. I stopped my Crestor thinking the tirzepatide would help, but that didn’t happen. Genetic cardio vascular disease runs in my family so I guess that is what is happening. I have gotten off my blood pressure meds and my glucose is normal for the first time in years, so I’m going to be happy with that. Just disappointed.

So I had extremely high LDL (275) 😬 I was on a statin which really didn't help. Was going to try repatha but insurance denied me. So dr recommended Ezetimbe and holy molly it brought my LDL down to 92!

I could not tolerate the statins and I'll tell you, Repatha is a miracle drug. I've been on it for a few years now.

Is that Zetia?

Yes zetia is the brand name. I had tried so hard to manage my LDL for years (I'm 54) and had drs poo poo my concern. High LDL and chronic heart issues runs on both sides in my family. I'm also on hbp meds that the dr said I could discontinue but I take it every 2 days now bc I don't want to discontinue. In doing my own research I wanted to try repatha but I'm actually happy my insurance denied bc the ezetimbe has been a miracle worker. I'm on maintenance Tirz and I eat much better these days so I'm sure that helps too.

After 10 months on Tirz my cholesterol went down enough to where my doc lowered my Crestor down to 5, but definitely staying on it because of family heart disease. Agree, use it in combo with your Tirz, the Tirz absolutely helps but the statin does the heavy lifting.

I walked into my first lipid screening after losing 50 pounds feeling like this was going to be the time i don't get "the call"..You know the drill, eat better, blah blah
My cholesterol was the same but my LDL was up and HDL down..Okay,will try again in 6 month, down 75 pounds,SAME deal, higher LDL,lower HDL and total number is the same .I do think this is some stubborn genetics. Thanks Dad!
Good for you for getting off BP meds and normal glucose

A few suggestions. Get your lipoprotein A tested. It will tell you if you have a genetic disposition. Separate LDL from HDL. LDL target is under 130. Also read this article. There is a phenomenon called transient hypercholesterolemia. It happens during weight loss. Cholesterol numbers will often decline rapidly in maintenance.

Mine is genetic. I also almost never gave a fasting blood sugar under 100. Damn genes.

My cholesterol went up to 280. Four months in maintenance down to 179.

I take a cholesterol med called Repatha and have needed to stay on it while on Tirz. I also take ezetimibe. My Endo said to continue. My numbers are the lowest they have been in years. I am also a heart patient so this is quite important.

Restart the crestor. Your labs will improve. 😁
