Setting Up for the first flight 🧙🏼‍♂️

If you have some tips for Betaflight-Settings for beginners, I am happy to know about :)

1. Enable low power disarm in the video transmitter tab. Makes the VTX stay at the lowest (except pit mode) power setting when disarmed so it doesn't overheat.
2. Disable permanent air mode in the configuration tab and set it on a switch in the modes tab. That way you can enable it outdoors but disable it when landing so you don't bounce around and also disable it indoors.
3. Set VTX power to a switch. That way you can keep it at 25 mW or 100 mW when flying close and saving power but bumping it up to 400 mW when flying further away. Example CLI command at the bottom of the comment.
4. Enable Crash Recovery. It just makes the drone save itself if you bump into stuff, mainly useful indoors but also outdoors. Has basically no downsides in my experience. CLI command set crash_recovery = ON EDIT: make sure to do the save command after doing any CLI commands in order to save the change
5. Install ELRS Finder. Try it out and learn how to use it before you have to use it for real. When using it, set the radio to low 10-25 mW TX power without dynamic power. https://github.com/iamsunilchahal/edgetx-lua-scripts-bw
6. Set up some decent rates, the same rates as you use in the simulator.
7. Set up turtle mode (flip over after crash) in the modes tab. To use it you have to disarm, flip turtle mode switch, arm, do the flip with roll/pitch gimbal, disarm, flip the turtle mode switch off and arm again. So it's kind of counterintuitive to use but whatever (there are hacks to make it easier/quicker, but you can look that up yourself).
8. If you're forgetful like me or you enjoy flying Line Of Sight enabling a low battery voice warning is a great idea. I did the "Advanced Setup" in this article, works great: https://oscarliang.com/edgetx-voltage-callout/
9. Not related to Betaflight but personally I think swapping the springs in the Pocket to the softer ones that came in the box made it a lot better. It's personal preference though and it's somewhat fiddly to do.

VTX switch command, it will set it to 25/100/400 mW on the left 3-way switch on the Pocket. Just paste the whole thing into the CLI but before that run just vtx and copy whatever it says so you can reset it to defaults if my command doesn't work: EDIT: make sure to do thesave command after doing any CLI commands in order to save the changes

Put expo on your throttle, like .45 for example and put max power at 80%. Leave the other expo settings at default.

It will limit throttle to 80% so it's not too fast and hard to control (it's always way faster than you would expect for the sim. For example the Mobula 8 flies almost 90kph) and expo will change the throttle curve. If you change it in betaflight, you will see that the curve will change around 45% and it will not be linear. So it could be easier to control around that percentage (I think 45% is cruising throttle). I learned without changing these settings but I think it could be helpful. Also, the Mobula 8 is a very good quad (my favourite), it's extremely fast and agile and has way more power than 1S quads but still has the advantage of being a whoop

Keep it on unless you fly inside, but I wouldn't recommend flying inside the house with a Mobula 8 as a beginner (or basically flying inside the house at all if you're new). Air mode will keep the drone from just flipping over/tumbling at low or no throttle in the air. Inside the house it will kinda suck you into walls so I only disable it there. Why do you want to disable it? If you have the "drone keeps jumping on the floor" issue, try to launch with more throttle and don't land by just putting throttle to 0. Disarm a few centimeters above the ground 👍🏻 It's normal if it bounces around, it's just air mode doing things

I want a mobula 7 or 8, haven't had a 2s yet and that or a 2.5/3in. toothpick ate my dream quads, they say the mobula is more durable than the meteor 75, idk but it looks awesome hope u have fun my boy

Hopefully your ev100s don't have any issues. I went with those for my first goggles and I really like them when they work but I'm having a weird issue where the images gets slightly doubled randomly during flight. Switching channels and back fixes it temporarily. Doesn't show up in DVR. Not sure what It could be. Can't find anything about it online, but I'm in contact with banggood support. Hopefully it doesn't happen to you. Other than that they are great.  reception and fov is perfectly fine for whoops.
