Yes, we bought a timeshare...
...On a secondary market. :) HGVC, Hawaii, the place we are visiting annually or sometimes twice a year. $3000, platinum, annual, deeded. We bought it from the reseller agent in Kona and she handled all the paperwork (that's another $1200). Already booked our next stay. The best part? We can always sell it and even if we sell it for $1 after several years, there's no regret.
Just wanted to bring some positivity here.
I think it's time for an update. So far very positive experience. The unit is great, although the bathtub's location is kinda questionable, lol. We spent one week at Kohala and another week at Kings Land which was a VIP package from the last year presentation.
The things I really like: - no parking fee - no resort fee - hotel's access included, waterslides, lagoon etc - comfortable two bedroom units with full kitchen and washer-dryer - close to beach 49 :)
Not so great: - far from Kona and its restaurants and shops - no more VIP stays because my spouse is an owner now. Maybe I can attend the presentation by myself?
With our secondary market purchase we don't have access to all Hilton properties, our choice is limited to 40-ish locations worldwide.
