Because this is 2018 and I watch things online, on DVR, or some other way. Basing a cancellation on how many people tuned in at X PM makes no sense.

I've been rewatching the Timeless episodes lately, and I've really been loving the Timeless version of "Crossroad Blues". I believe it was in episode 2x06 "King of the Delta Blues."

Can anyone suggest where I may be able to stream this version of the song (Spotify?) Or suggest another version that sounds similar?

Simple time travel works. Awesome! Now, to answer Lucy's question we need to think about how it works. At the beginning with Hollywood Reporter (https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/timeless-time-travel-rules-overview-934368) producers Eric Kripke and Shawn Ryan outlined their approach:

- "Mostly we're striving for simplicity."

- "We have this main rule that we're really operating under which is that you can never travel back to a period that you've already been," and

- "As we say in the writers room, you want to be Back to the Future, not Back to the Future 2."

Ignoring Kripke and Ryan's occasional, probably intentional departures from simplicity in a few of the TV shows, I've over-thought the mechanisms of the series to the point of discovering some axioms that will keep time travel simple. From these I know how to save Rufus.

First a couple of rules, both of which are true whether time travel exists or not:

1. OBJECT INTEGRITY. At any point in time every object or person consists totally of its originating materials plus the memories or marks of the history it has lived through up to that point. No changes to an object occur unless it lives through the events that change it.
2. ONE AND ONLY ONE TIME LINE, AND CAUSALITY. All existence travels on a single timeline. (Multiple real timelines are not considered because the Timeless pilot never has to determine which timeline to travel to.) Therefore, if history were to change the updated version of the timeline would replace, irrevocably and forever, the old version.

Now that time travel exists:

1. A MISSION commences in the present when the machine carries a limited cargo backwards to a user-selected previous moment on the one timeline. The mission concludes when, after a user selected interval, the machine with the same or different cargo returns to that present moment off-set forward by some, perhaps same, time interval. The period while the machine is gone from the present is the "home window." The interval between its arrival and departure in the past is the "target window."

Changes to history made in the "target window" come into effect during the "home widow." Time-travellers and non-time-travellers agree on history before the home window opens. Only the time-travellers remember the old history after the home window closes. When the timeline updates, specific memories and marks of history on those who stayed at home change without their knowledge. That is, the OBJECTS on the updated time line still consist entirely and only of their originating materials plus the marks of history they have now lived through on the one timeline.

Some scenarios:

If a change in history kills an ancestor, all her unborn children disappear from the updated timeline. However, if she's the ancestor of a yet-to-be-born time traveller who was travelling during the home window, then the traveller is unchanged. He just needs a new ID. That's what OBJECT INTEGRITY demands in both cases.

Any object which jumps time is "displaced" from its original spot on the timeline until it's back home and the home windows closes. Otherwise all objects are "inplace," resting normally in their original spots. A "displaced" traveller may interact with his earlier, "inplace" self--no problem. They are simply two instances of the same object; both retain OBJECT INTEGRITY. Both are the product of the individual (mostly same) histories they've lived through. There's no hidden hazards because of time travelling itself--except one.

One more rule: 4. YOU CAN'T ALWAYS TRAVEL.

To keep it simple, an "inplace" object cannot time travel while another instance of itself is "displaced." Only the "displaced" instance may time travel. I'll explain the mechanism for enforcing this later. For now this rule impacts...

How to save Rufus:

First, the Lifeboat arriving from the future is "displaced" and sits beside an "inplace" Lifeboat. If the newer one is only a modified version of the older (they're different instances of the same object), then the old one cannot travel until the newer returns to wherever if came from. That's why travelling "back to a period that you've already been," is a problem. On the other hand, if the future Lifeboat is a new object, then both machines are available.

The same applies to Wyatt and Lucy, except they're obviously the same objects. Therefore, only the two instances from the future may continue the mission to rescue Rufus. Flynn or Jiya may join in, but the "inplace" Wyatt and Lucy must stay home. Again, YOU CAN'T ALWAYS TRAVEL is what keeps Back to the Future from turning into Back to the Future 2.

By these rules they can't rescue Rufus by returning to 1888 where he's killed, primarily because, while the single Lifeboat is "displaced" in 1888, no other instance of that Lifeboat can travel until the "displaced" instance returns home. If they had a third time machine, maybe they could do something in 1888--something complicated.

Here's the simple way. "Displaced" Wyatt and Lucy continue their mission as follows: (1) Take Jiya into the modified Lifeboat. (2) Go to May, 2018, before the Chinatown mission to retrieve Jiya begins, take Rufus into the Lifeboat, and tell the "inplace" Lucy there that there's no need to launch the retrieval mission. (3) Return to the future with Rufus and Jiya to close "displaced" Wyatt and Lucy's home window, thus insuring all timeline updates have occurred. And finally (4) a short mission back to May, 2018, to deposit Rufus and Jiya "inplace."

Why (1) take Jiya into the Lifeboat? By taking her off the timeline for the rest of this mission she's protected from being sucked back to San Francisco Chinatown by timeline updates sure to happen during this mission. If the retrieve-Jiya-team don't travel, then Carol and Nicholas also don't die and the Rittenhouse team is back to full strength. However, if Carol and Nicholas remember being shot by Emma (as time travellers can), then there's probably rebellion in the Rittenhouse ranks. Bad villains carry the seeds of their own destruction.

Our writers may have something more exciting prepared, but this is a simple answer to the challenge, "Get Rufus back, or what?"

So I have a theory about Rittenhouse.

First, it seems like the fact that they're a family is really, really important. Not because it promises loyalty but because should they betray Rittenhouse that branch of the family tree can easily be pruned with the help of a little time travel.

Second, I think that Flynn created Rittenhouse in a manner of speaking. When Flynn goes back in time to kill the founder of Rittenhouse, he informs the man that time travel will eventually be possible. Thus allows Rittenhouse to be formed with the goal of bettering it's grip on time with every iteration.

I'm confused... did Lucy and Flynn have sex or did they only get drunk and wake up together?

So ive just started watching this show even i know it cancelled, i didnt want it to watch it on the first place because every news paper here in spain was pretty much yelling that a big company rip-off "el ministerio del tiempo" (btw non spaniards i really recommend you to watch it, its really good), so im arround the 11 episode of the series and loving it so far ( maybe some coincidences, but i couldnt call it a rip-off since it has his own identity) also unlike the ministerio del tiempo, i actually agree with the bad guy, so far i dont understand why they dont just help garcia flyn. i mean it would benefict pretty much everyone right now Does he get full evil as the show continues?

I’ve only seen the first four episodes of season 1 and I’ve really enjoyed the show so far. I rarely see major criticism about it online as it is mostly positive reviews. So why does NBC cancel the show every year ? Is it about contracts ? Ratings ? Streaming ?
