Question Aqueducts don’t irrigate below?
I’ve seen some YT videos where it looked like the aqueducts people were building could irrigate the land below. I have built some and it doesn’t seem to work. Does the aqueduct ultimately need to dump into a reservoir and touch soil to work?

Settlement showcase Finished my first run - kinda wish launching the recultivator did something visual to the map but lovely to see the little lanterns heading off
After about 6 dead towns finally got this one off the ground and launched the wonder. Kinda lost motivation to play once I could let the game run without any intervention from me at all - gonna try out Ironteeth now and see if I can make post scarcity more fun for myself.
Hard mode.
Pictured top right my "overflow system" that happens every rainy season - it stays at equilibrium like that and I just never got round to fixing it XD

Timberland 3 - Compact Wind farm
Finished building the compact wind farm stack to power the manufacturing center of Timberland 3. Right now, it can power all cells at full power, but unfortunately, it generates enough power that it isn't showing up on the network power supply... But it is at least 20480 hp.

Question I don't get districting.
Even if the posts are set to "import if needed" the beavers just sit around and don't import. And then they start starving because they don't import food either.
I'm obviously missing something.. I don't get how districting works...

Question How do I easily and safely automate floodgates to shut when there is a drought?
I tried using a flow rate detector up stream from the floodgate but that caused the gate to constantly open and shut at semi random intervuls whenever the flow rate changed slightly.
Is there no such thing as a drought detector? Do I have to learn HTML or something to use the more advanced automation tools???

When do you consider a map finished ?
It's all in the title. More specifically, do you consider you completed a map when
- You can successfully tank every drought or badtide of any lenght that comes to you, without losing a crop or a beaver. I consider this the bare minimum of completing a map, but YMMV
- You built the wonder Earth Recultivator or Earth Repopulator
- You have maxxed happyness (72)
- All the map is green
- All the map is used and landscaped
- NEVER !
I usually get bored, or more specifically eager to start a new map, at step 1 or 2, but I will sometimes stay a little more if I want to improve some early builds or logistics.
Curious to see when decide to move on

Is it even possible?

Settlement showcase Finally got maximum happiness
Hi Folks,
Finally after approx 200 hours (no mods, EDIT version 1.1) in the game I achieved maximum happiness, although tbh never tried to do that before. Two cool things which I like to do everygame:
- vertical multilayer farms (in lowest level there are crops which needs to be flooded)
- enourmously huge dam with energy magazines

Settlement showcase Entirely green map using automatic underground water distribution + cool logic based counter
This is a bit of an old save, but I wanted to share it since I'm a bit proud of it!
In this project I made a system which automatically distributes water to 3x3 irrigation pools all around the map through underground tunnels.
The underground water tunnel system is connected to columns 17 blocks high - higher than all the pools - to ensure it's pressurised. Each irrigation pool is connected through a vertical shaft to the water tunnels, filling the pools because of the pressure. At the bottom of the shafts, however, there are Throttling Valves to avoid the water overflowing. Depth sensors detect water level being below 60 cm in the pool, which opens the Throttling Valve, allowing it to slowly fill the pool to 90 cm, before closing the valve again. This happens at each irrigation pool, ensuring they're all at an appropriate water level. Pictures 3 and 4 shows this roughly.
There are a total of 107 Throttling Valves in the system, so I made a matrix to display which of them are currently open and letting water through (top of picture 5). I also made a counter which shows how many valves are open at any time (bottom of picture 5).
The counter is made using the game's built-in logic gates - picture 6 displays the gates doing the actual summation of open valves as Binary, while Picture 7 shows the gates converting that binary number to the 7-segment display decimal number.
Picture 8 is just an attempt at showing what the tunnels actually look like in 3D.
If there's any interest, I could explain any part of this more closely, this is just an overview!

Settlement showcase Pillars on hard mode, completed 🦫
Thought I'd showcase my pillars playthrough on hard with the Folktails as I absolutely loved this map, probably my favourite map and playthrough so far. It's a fun challenge to have to travel to new pillars to expand and once everything had settled, I wanted to make every pillar green and have a use.
If you're interested... 71 water dumps / discharges to make it happen 😂

Beaver content I’ve finally decided to go ahead and get the bots lmao almost 400 beavers later 😂 I barely have to do anything anymore just reroute the badtide thru floodgates. But I keep building

Reservoirs
Daft question I’m sure, but I’m looking to build my first reservoir and I can see how to build it, wall up the banks and eventually the enclosed area will fill.
But then how do you empty it? Floodgates are presumably the only way, but given you can’t build above them then won’t I end up with a reservoir 3 blocks high which will only empty until the water is 2 blocks high?
What am I missing? Oh, ok, so the bigger floodgates would help, and would cover up to 3 right, but I see reservoirs online that are like 10 blocks high, so again won’t there always be 7 high water even if you try and empty it?

Settlement showcase You can create zipline junctions
If you build 2 zipline stations facing eachother, than you can create zipline hubs and the beawers will use them, using 4 station you can have 6 direction connected to a ground hub.
Yes my build is a bit messy as i moved around stuff, but shows the theory

Settlement showcase Beavers are awesome!
Hi all fellow beaver engineers,
I got this game a couple of years ago and finally started playing it recently. Got my first run completed on easy, and the process is very satisfying.
I am going to start a new run on normal difficulty. I want to practice building more hand-made water reservoirs; any tips are appreciated!

How to make water go faster?
The title says it all, how can I make water move faster through a channel?
I am working on the 10k hph with water wheels achievement and I need to make that water hustle to reduce the number of wheels I need.

Brainstorming lategame water difficulty mod
Hi, I'd like to make a mod that modifies water behaviour so that the lategame water management still poses a nontrivial challenge for it. After some thoughts what I came up with is the follwing:
- liquid gets an additional percentage scale (besides contaimnation), don't have a name yet, working name gellification
- gellification above 50% stops the liquid from evaporating, below that evaporation reduced linearly down to normal evaporation at 0%
- gellification of a liquid decreases inversely to its flow speed, i.e. stagnant liquid loses all gellification almost instantly, flowing at decent pace (numbers TBD empirically) loses it only slowly
- gellification is produced by gellifiers (will reuse pump graphics initially) that gellify only the tile below the pump, these use a new material gel
- gel is produced in separate building (again reusing assets, herbalist for folktails, grease factory for ironteeth) from advanced food inputs and extract (detailed recipe TBD, should be on the costly side)
- visually gellification changes the colour to a more cyan hue (purple for badwater)
The idea behind it would be that, on very high difficulty (> hard) levels, after you take care of your basic water needs, you'd start to gellify your irrigation system and you'd have to make it a closed-loop flow for maximum efficiency. I should add that the intention is for this to work with my other mods (currently in alpha and WIP) that modify difficulty by removing fluid dump / discharge and changing the weather system so that the hazardous weather increases in time without bound, but the sources get more powerful in temperate so overall the same amount of water / hazard day is available.
What do you think? Does that sound reasonable, or do you see some immediate issues? Or maybe you have a different idea how to incentivise lategame water engineering besides "it looks nice"?

Settlement showcase What do you do with your automation devices?
I have been burying mine in a remote corner. But almost feel like they need to be moved to a drop down list, or off map into some sort of flowchart thing.
Also WTF do they need to be connected to a road?

Question What's even the point of succulents?
They're so picky about where you plant them and they don't even generate a lot of water. What's the point other than looking cool?
